11 Easy Ways To Earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Points In 2023

1) Flying with Virgin Australia

One of the most obvious ways to earn Velocity Points is by flying. For Virgin Australia Domestic, Trans-Tasman and International Short Haul fares you will earn 5 Points per $1 spent on eligible flights. For International long haul flights you will earn between 0.25 and 2 Velocity Points per flight mile. 2) Flying with Partner Airlines

You can earn Velocity Points on eligible flights with Velocity’s airline partners. Higher travel classes earn more Points, plus Velocity Silver/Gold/Platinum members may receive bonus points if the flight has a VA flight number. 3) Credit Cards 

Signing up for and using a Velocity Points earning credit card can earn you lots of extra Velocity Points. Check whether your card includes a sign-up Points bonus to kickstart your balance. Some cards even offer perks such as Virgin Australia flights and Lounge access.

 

Our favourite Velocity credit cards are from American Express. The two cards worth mentioning are the American Express Velocity Platinum and the Velocity Escape which is an entry level Card that comes with no annual card fee. Using your card for everyday expenses such as groceries, dining, utility bills and entertainment will help you further boost your points balance on top of the sign up offer.

4) Family Points Pooling

Family Points pooling is unique to Velocity and allows members to pool Velocity Points and Status Credits with up to 6 family members living at the same address. 5) Direct Bookings with Hotel Partners

You can earn up to 3 Velocity Points per $1 spent on eligible hotel bookings in Australia with Velocity’s direct earn hotel partners. Stays at overseas properties also earn up to 3 Velocity Points per $1 spent, or a flat rate of between 600-1000 Points depending on the hotel you choose to stay at. 6) Virgin Australia Hotel Bookings

You can earn 3 Velocity Points per $1 spent when booking an eligible hotel stay through Virgin Australia.

Keep an eye out for special points promotions as Velocity Frequent Flyer often has boosted hotel earn rates with Virgin Australia. In the past we’ve seen earn rates as high as 9 Points per dollar spent on eligible hotel stays, which is amazing!

7) Transferring Flybuys Points

The Flybuys Velocity partnership allows you to transfer Flybuys points to Velocity Points when you link your Velocity Frequent Flyer and Flybuys accounts. Flybuys points are collected at participating retailers including but not limited to Coles, Coles Express, Kmart, Officeworks and Bunnings. Flybuys points can be transferred to Velocity Points in increments of 1,000 Flybuys points for 500 Velocity Points. 8) Velocity eStore 

You can earn Velocity Points by shopping online with retailers such as Apple, Myer, eBay, Booktopia and more through the Velocity eStore. The earn rate will differ between stores, however generally speaking it is around 2 Points per AU$1 spent on eligible purchases. All you have to do to earn Points on your purchase is login to the Velocity eStore and click through to your selected retailer (ensure your cookies are enabled). 9) Car Hire
