Qantas Frequent Flyer is once again offering an easy path to elite status in an attempt to swipe top frequent flyers from its competition. This is one of the easiest paths to Qantas Gold status, with those who are selected needing just 100 status credits instead of the usual 700 normally required to achieve Gold. If chosen, you’ll have 90 days to earn those status credits between 1 December 2021 and 28 February 2022.

To sweeten the deal, anyone who is accepted for the 90-day challenge will have access to the perks of Gold membership during that period. Upon successful completion, your Qantas Frequent Flyer status will be upgraded to Gold for the following year.

Which airlines will Qantas match?

To be considered for the Qantas Status Fast Track, you’ll need Bronze or Silver Qantas membership, an Australian or New Zealand postal address and eligible status with a qualifying airline loyalty program.

You can apply using one of the following airline frequent flyer tiers:

  • Air Canada Aeroplan 50K, 75K and Super Elite
  • Air China Phoenix Miles Gold, Platinum
  • Air India Flying Returns Golden Edge Club, Maharajah Club
  • Air New Zealand Airpoints Gold, Elite

How can I earn 100 status credits?

Earning 100 status credits shouldn’t be too hard, but it is still a fair bit of flying! Here are a few examples:

  • 5x return discount economy trips from Sydney to Melbourne
  • 2x return flexible economy trips from Adelaide to Townsville
  • 1x return business trip from Melbourne to Brisbane
  • 1x one-way business trip from Perth to Sydney via Adelaide/Melbourne/Brisbane
  • 1x one-way business trip from Sydney or Melbourne to Singapore

For more ideas, check out Qantas’ Points and Status calculator.

Will all status credits count towards the challenge?

Qantas says that most status credits earned within the 90 day period will contribute to the status fast track, including those earned in the air and on the ground. However, status credits earned from a Loyalty Bonus, rollover status credits and any gifted status credits will not count toward the challenge.

Can I match Platinum status?

Unfortunately not. If you’re Platinum or similar with another airline, you will only receive Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold membership.

    • Hi Oscar, that’s an extremely broad question you have there! Considering there are over 5,000 different airlines in the world, did you have one in mind?
