Hotel X Location

While it’s not right in the CBD, everything is within reach of Hotel X. Just a short walk to the bars of Howard Smith Wharves, the boutiques of James Street and the best restaurants and clubs in Brisbane, Hotel X literally marks the spot.

The Room – King Standard

I was booked in one of the basic King Standard rooms, which clocked in at just 28sqm. Despite its size, the room flows well with softening cream and greys offset by playful photographs and the occasional splash of gold and purple detailing.

To the right of the entry was a well-sized area to store luggage, alongside a wardrobe for hanging items. This is also where the comprehensive minibar lives, alongside a simple coffee machine.

In-room gadgetry is intuitive for room service, pillow selection, hotel info and controlling the lights from the comfort of your bed.
There’s also some funky indirect wall lighting above the bed that really comes alive in the evening.

The first of two dining concepts at Hotel X is Bisou Bisou, a French-inspired restaurant located on the ground floor. French for ‘kiss kiss’, Bisou Bisou takes a modern twist on the traditional French-style brasserie. Bisou Bisou is where you’ll want to be for breakfast, with guests able to select from a choice a-la-carte menu.

If the ground floor isn’t for you, jump in the elevator and hit rooftop for a heaven of colourful cocktails, Mediterranean-inspired eats and killer views of Brisbane City and beyond. This is Iris, and it’s the place to be of an evening, or during the day if you prefer a head start.

Hotel X Amenities

Next to Iris is the beautiful 15-metre rooftop pool complete with panoramic views of the city and stylish lounge chairs. There’s also a gym, but after you visit the pool it’s hard to turn back!

Hotel X in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley is one of the hottest places to stay in Brisbane right now. While the location may be a bit far for some, I enjoyed staying outside of the city. Plus, a short riverside walk through the Howard Smith Wharves precinct is all it takes to get cityside.

It was great to stay somewhere so different, while still keeping IHG status perks at hand. So, I’ll definitely be back, although next time, I’d book a larger room.
