Each of their seven rooms is different in its own way, but all capture the essence of Tasmania through blackened timbers, forest green velvet and gorgeous views of the River Tamar. Improved lighting and pillow options would be welcomed, but apart from that Stillwater Seven is near perfect.

Change Overnight
Change Overnight is a relatively new, 18-room hotel in Launceston. Apart from providing all the creature comforts a traveller might need from their apartment, Change Overnight also has a positive impact on the outside world. For every night stay customers get to give back to the world through one eight causes ranging from protecting Tasmanian land to supporting a child through a short-term education program in India. It really is ‘a better night’s sleep’.
Author’s note: Change Overnight acts as more of an AirBnb than a traditional hotel, with self-check-in and keyless access to the property. Each of the apartment is fully equipped with a kitchen, washer and dryer, living room, free Wi-Fi and climate control. You can also expect a unique hand-painted mural, which was a little unnerving in its design. During my stay I noticed how my apartment was in need of repairs, despite being less than one year old. Although, the beds were very comfortable, especially when you know you can wake up to a better world.

Satellite Island
Looking for something a little more private? How about your own island!
Satellite Island is located off the South East Coast of Tasmania and is exclusively yours when you come to stay. The private island caters for up to 8 guests between two houses and a luxury bell tent. Guests are given full access to the island, including boat transport to and from the island, gourmet breakfast provisions, an endless supply of wild oysters, fishing equipment, kayaks, snorkels and stand up paddleboards to name a few. Your private island doesn’t come cheap with prices starting at $2050 per night.
