Coles and Flybuys have just launched a new promotion where you can earn 5,262 Velocity Points by purchasing gift cards.
More specifically, you can earn 2,000 Flybuys points on $100 & $250 Coles Mastercard Gift Cards. There is a limit of five gift cards per Flybuys account, for a total of 10,000 bonus Flybuys points.
There is an activation fee of $5 for the $100 gift card and $7 for the $250 gift card. Therefore, if you purchase five $100 gift cards, you will be charged a $25 activation fee.
Including the standard and bonus points, members can earn 10,525 Flybuys points on a five gift card purchase. Because Flybuys is partnered with Velocity Frequent Flyer, those points can be converted into 5,262 Velocity Points
This offer runs from 15 to 21 November 2023 and is available in-store at Coles Supermarkets.
Wait, You Said It Cost $25 Not $525?
In total you’ll spend $525 for five $100 gift cards. Of course, the gift cards themselves can be used anywhere there is an EFTPOS machine, just like your normal spending.
The best practice would be to purchase your gift cards, and then use them to immediately pay for your weekly shop. But either way, you get 5,262 Velocity Points For $25.
What Can I Do With 5,262 Velocity Points?
For just 4,900 Velocity Points you can upgrade to Business class from an Economy Flex fare. That’s for flights up to 600 miles, such as Melbourne to Sydney, Adelaide or Canberra. Considering you’re essentially getting a bottomless brunch in the lounge and on the flight, $25 is pretty tempting!
