Virgin Australia Boosts Flexibility, Reopenes Lounges and Increases flybuys Transfers
Virgin Australia is claiming to be the first Australian airline to offer booking flexibility for travel until 30 June 2021 under their revised customer policy. As part of Virgin Australia’s Passenger Promise (more on that below), increased flexibility will see travellers able to make unlimited date changes to their bookings without incurring any change fees, for bookings made by 31 March 2021, for travel until 30 June 2021.

Virgin Australia Scrap Partner Benefits And Lose CEO Paul Scurrah
To the dismay of many, Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer has released a program update that announces cuts to several member benefits when travelling with airline partners. These changes come as a significant blow to Velocity members, continuing the reduction of benefits for those members who hold elite status. In addition, the airline has announced CEO Paul Scurrah will leave Virgin Australia in early November.

Singapore Airlines Returns Passenger Flights To Perth
At last, some positive news for International travel! Singapore Airlines has announced it will increase its flights to Australia with three weekly flights to Perth from August 18. This will bring the total of Australian cities covered by Singapore Airlines back up to 5 with the exception of Canberra.

The Virgin Australia Group has today revealed its plans to build a stronger, more profitable and competitive Virgin Australia, as the airline prepares to leave voluntary administration under the ownership of Bain Capital. Qantas Farewells The Boeing 747
Qantas has today marked the end of an era with the departure of the national carrier’s last Boeing 747 aircraft. To the misery of many Avgeeks, the unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 crisis forced Qantas to bring forward the scheduled retirement of the type by six months, after international travel demand slumped globally.
