Tucked away in the Perth hills is the Amaroo Retreat & Spa which opened back in 2018 to offer some well-needed luxury for those seeking a local Western Australian staycation within driving range from the city.
The Amaroo Retreat is located in Mount Helena WA and set on some 50 acres of bushland. The retreat is made up of individual chalets which all feature a spa overlooking the woods around the retreat.

Amaroo Retreat Chalets
The rooms at Amaroo are beautifully appointed and offer all the comforts one might need for a local getaway. The design is minimalist, and the combination of wooden textures and natural stone works to create a stylish hideaway some 45 minutes drive from Perth.
At the back of the chalet is the spacious bathroom with double vanities and amenities from eco-label Sukin.
A comfortable bed gives guests vantage views over the bushland outside and thanks to the positioning of the chalets, it does feel very private and away from it all.
Outside, there’s a huge deck and outdoor lounge perfect for relaxing after soaking in the spa bath (each chalet comes with one).
Amaroo Restaurant
At the time of this review, the restaurant wasn’t open yet, but now the retreat features a lounge and restaurant where guests can go for a drink, lunch and dinner. The menu can be found here.
Amaroo Spa & Pool
A retreat wouldn’t be complete with without a spa so if you want to unwind, even more, make sure to book your spa treatment in advance.
Next to the spa and main building you’ll also find the pool, perfect for cooling down during the hot Perth summer which is just around the corner.
