  1. Have you seriously checked the legality of what you are planning to do and promoting to your audience? Do you live on a farming property? Second hand storage containers tend to be contaminated and prone to leakage. Five litres of fuel is enough to become a sizeable bomb if it all goes wrong; fuel stored in plastic containers can generate static electricity which does not mix well with fuel at all. I’d strongly suggest that you contact your state automobile association and ask them what the regulations are.

    • No I have not, this article is purely for entertainment purposes only. My plan is to store the Diesel on a rural property, definitely wouldn’t store it at my house. A quick google has told me that you’re only allowed to store 120L of dangerous fuel at your own property (such as unleaded), so that would throw a spanner in the works. I’m not sure if this applies to Diesel as well.

    • You’d just fill it up at the petrol station. That said, check my update. So far it looks like storing anything above 120L would require some sort of license (and probably an approved storage solution).

  2. Thank goodness you’re not my neighbour!

I’d suggest this story might be a bit irresponsible. Some idiot out there is going to read this (probably not to the end) and think “what a good looking idea”. I love a good points accumulation story, but quite frankly, I can’t believe you were even considering this.

    • I agree with your comments Matt. I have noticed that the ‘Hacks’ are getting more extreme and quite frankly are of little use to me. This petrol hack is quite simply idiotic.

  3. The big question is how do you get the fuel out of the IBC you have to lift it above the height of your car to use gravity or conversely buy a fuel pump and there goes your points
