Following its success in Singapore, heymax has soft-launched in Australia this week. The shopping portal allows members to earn Max Miles for shopping online, which can then be transferred to more than 20 airline and hotel loyalty programs.

What Is Heymax?

Heymax is an online shopping portal that rewards users with its own loyalty credits called Max Miles. It works in the same sense as Cashrewards, but you will earn a set number of Max Miles per dollar spent, instead of cashback.

Once you have enough Max Miles, you can transfer them to a range of airline and hotel loyalty schemes, including Qantas Frequent Flyer and Air Canada Aeroplan. Of course, those Max Miles are earned in addition to your usual credit card rewards, so if you’re going to shop online, you might as well do it via heymax to upsize your points earn.

Where Can I Earn Max Miles?

Having only launched in Australia on 24th November 2022, heymax is still building a list of Australian merchants through which you can earn Max Miles. So far, heymax is offering Max Miles on 40+ brands, with plans to significantly expand their Australian shopping partners over the next few months.

Here are some of the brands and how many Max Miles per A$1 you can earn (rates subject to change);

Heymax

Heymax’s successful Singapore arm is already offering over a thousand merchants, through which its members have earned more than 20 million Max Miles. The loyalty portal tells Flight Hacks they hope to unlock the same number of stores for Australian users as the platform grows.

There’s also more ways to earn Max Miles in the pipeline, including purchasing gift cards and through credit card applications.

Where Can I Redeem Max Miles?

Max Miles can be redeemed for gift cards, to book travel or transferred to 20+ airline and hotel loyalty programmes. Heymax is also looking to add loyalty partners each quarter, with one hundred partners expected by 2025. For now, the list includes;

1:1 conversions (min 1,000 Max Miles):

  • airasia rewards
  • Avianca LifeMiles
  • British Airways Executive Club
  • Etihad Guest
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer
  • Flying Blue
  • Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club

1.5:1 conversions (min 1,000 Max Miles):

  • JAL Mileage Bank
  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

1:1 conversions (min 10,000 Max Miles):

  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • Alaska Airlines
  • American Airlines
  • Emirates
  • IHG One Rewards
  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • United Airlines
  • World of Hyatt
  • Wyndham Rewards
  • Radisson Rewards
  • Frontier Airlines

Heymax

One downside to heymax as it stands is the high conversion blocks in order to start a transfer. For example, you’d need to spend A$607 with Booking.com in order to transfer 1,000 Max Miles to 1,000 Qantas Points. If you wanted to transfer to Air Canada Aeroplan, you’d need to spend A$6061 with Booking.com before being allowed to make that transfer.

However, new heymax members can score 500 bonus Max Miles on signup, meaning you’ll effectively need to earn 500 Max Miles in order to make your first transfer to Qantas Frequent Flyer. The other good news is that Max Miles never expire, and there is no fee to transfer miles regardless of which programme select.

How To Join Heymax and Score 500 Free Max Miles

To get your account balance started, you can score 500 Max Miles when you sign up via Flight Hacks. Here’s how to get the bonus;

Step 1: Visit heymax.ai here.

Step 2: Click on “sign up”.

Step 3: Enter your email address and create a password, then click “sign up” again.

Summing Up: Is Heymax worth it?

I really like the idea behind heymax. For those with an obsession for points, this is a great alternative to Cashrewards or other cashback services. It’s essentially earning points for nothing, so if the earn rate is competitive, heymax might be worth it for you.
