It seems that both Qantas and Velocity Frequent Flyer’s marketing teams are watching each other’s moves, which is great for points hungry customers like us!
This week Qantas announced yet another double points promotion (frequent flyer points that is, not status credits) and today, Virgin Australia’s Velocity program followed suit with a double status promo for flights to and from Australia to New Zealand.

Qantas Double Points Promo
The Qantas double points promotion is running from November 12 until November 16 with a cut off time of 11:59 PM AEDT. The double points promo is valid for flights on both Qantas metal and Emirates codeshare on domestic and international routes. Trips need to be booked for travel between December 1, 2018, and June 30, 2019. There are no limits on the number of flights you can book or points you can earn.

After registering you can go ahead and book your flights before 16/11/18. Make sure the flights you book have the QF code in front of them, this means Jetstar flights are not eligible for this promo.
Points will be credited within 6 after flying.
Virgin Australia Velocity Double Status Credits
The Velocity double status promo is running from 13 November until 14 December 2018 inclusive. You will need to book a flight for travel between 26 November 2018 and 9 October 2019.
Eligible flights are between Australia and New Zealand, so we will assume that if you book a return flight, you will get double credits on the return leg as well.
