Qantas Launches Year Of Points Planes

Qantas will release thousands of Classic Reward seats that can be booked using Qantas Points, as part of a new series of Points Planes. The new Qantas Points Planes will be available in every month of the year throughout 2027, with every seat on each Points Plane flight open for booking as a Classic Reward - from economy through to first class.

The first batch of Qantas Points Planes dropped at 9am AEDT on 6 November 2026, with thousands of Classic Reward Seats popping up on specific Qantas-operated flights to and from Tokyo, Paris and Hobart.

Initial Points Plane dates include Tokyo during the peak snow season in January, Paris in time for Valentine’s Day in February, and Hobart during the school holidays. But you’ll need to act quickly to secure a reward seat, with Qantas releasing just 10 return Points Planes to kick off their year-long promotion.

Further Qantas Points Planes will be launched throughout 2027, including to popular destinations like Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Vancouver.

Qantas launches year of Points Planes for 2027

Qantas was the first airline to launch Points Planes in 2019, with premium cabin seats on the inaugural flight selling out within minutes. The concept has since been replicated by other airlines globally.

Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance said the latest Points Planes would improve reward inventory to sought-after destinations.

“We know how much our members value using their points on travel. Around 10 reward seats are booked every minute, and this series expands availability…As more members build their points balances, we want the seats to be there when they are ready to book them.”

How To Book A Qantas Points Plane

Booking a Qantas Points Plane is exactly the same as booking a Classic Flight Reward. Just be sure to search for a date where Points Planes are being offered.

  1. Head to qantas.com and log in to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.
  2. From the homepage, search a route and dates of a Points Plane, making sure to toggle on "Rewards".
  3. Look for flights marked with a red Classic Flight Reward ribbon.
  4. Select your flights and proceed to book.

Summing Up

Points Planes are one of the better promotions Qantas Frequent Flyer runs, and turning them into a year-long series is a genuine win for members. Reward availability has long been a sore point, so it’s great to see Qantas opening entire flights to Classic Rewards rather than just adding more ways to earn points.

Just don’t expect Points Planes to be a free-for-all. There are a very limited number of flights, with only ten internationally, and premium seats are always the first to go.

Qantas will announce more Points Planes throughout 2027, and we’ll update this page with each new release.
