American Express Transfer Hack To Earn Qantas Points

Last month, American Express shared more details on its impending Membership Rewards devaluation, which kicks in from 15 December 2025. At the same time, Amex announced that Everyday Rewards would shortly become available as a new transfer partner.

The move immediately caught the attention of savvy Points collectors. While it may appear to be a small perk amid broader program cuts, this Amex and Everyday Rewards partnership quietly opens a valuable loophole. With Everyday Rewards also a Qantas partner, we now have a new indirect transfer path from American Express MR Points to Qantas Points.

If you hold a card like the Amex Explorer, Essential Rewards, or Platinum Edge, you can now effectively move MR Points into Qantas via this backdoor method, a perk previously reserved for Platinum cardholders. That opportunity becomes even more rewarding when promotions apply, like the 20% transfer bonus currently on offer. Here’s how to take advantage.

20% Bonus On Amex Transfers To Everyday Rewards

To celebrate the launch of their partnership, you can score 20% bonus Everyday Rewards Points when transferring Points from American Express. There is no need to activate this offer, but you will need to be an American Express cardholder and enrolled in the Membership Rewards (MR) program. A minimum transfer of 500 MR Points applies.

Eligible members who transfer Membership Rewards Points to Everyday Rewards between 30 October and 14 November 2025, will receive a 20% bonus.

It can take up to 7 business days for your Everyday Rewards Points to be credited. Your bonus Points will be credited up to 7 business days after the promo period ends.

What’s The Amex To Qantas Transfer Hack?

For those paying attention, this new partnership opens up a backdoor transfer from Membership Rewards to Qantas. Currently, the American Express Platinum card is the only Membership Rewards card that offers transfers to Qantas Frequent Flyer. The rate here is 2 MR Points to 1 Qantas Point.

Unfortunately, Amex does not grant the same access to its other Membership Rewards cards. If you hold an Amex Explorer, Essential Rewards or Platinum Edge credit card, for example, you can’t take advantage of direct Qantas transfers.

Qantas Business Class

But now, you can complete a two-step transfer: Amex → Everyday Rewards → Qantas. Here’s how the transfer rates would play out in usual circumstances, where zero bonus applies:

  • 5 Amex MR Points = 4 Everyday Rewards Points
  • 2 Everyday Rewards Points = 1 Qantas Point

That works out as 2.5 Amex MR Points to 1 Qantas Point, not bad considering the Platinum direct transfer rate.

After factoring in this 20% bonus Everyday Rewards Points you can currently receive, the rate drops to 2.08 Amex MR Points to 1 Qantas Point.

In case we lost you on the above, here’s a table to make sense of things.

Normal Rate
With 20% ER Bonus
Amex → Everyday Rewards
5 MR = 4 ER
5 MR = 4.8 ER
Everyday Rewards → Qantas
2 ER = 1 QF
2 ER = 1 QF
Effective Amex → Qantas
2.5 MR = 1 QF
2.08 MR = 1 QF

To put all this into perspective, if you had 100,000 American Express MR Points to transfer, the standard conversion rate would get you 40,000 Qantas Points in total. But when a 20% bonus applies on the Amex to Everyday Rewards portion of the transfer, your MR Points will stretch further. In that case, the same 100,000 MR Points would convert to 48,000 Qantas Points.
