ANA first launched its new route to Perth in September 2019 after Qantas first abandoned the route in 2011. Of course, covid happened, and flights were quickly halted.

A few years later, it looks like ANA has scheduled its first flight to Perth to kick off on October 30th 2022. While this hasn’t been officially announced, I noticed flights were loaded for sale. There’s a good chance Japan is expected to be open for all tourists again by then.

ANA will operate the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the Perth route, which features 184 seats split across business, premium economy and economy cabins.

The flight from Narita Tokyo will depart at 11:20 AM and arrive in Perth at 8:20 PM.

On the return, ANA operates a red-eye flight which departs Perth at 9:55 PM and arrives in Narita at 8:30 AM, making it perfect if you happen to have onward connections to the US/Europe.

The Star Alliance Airline is a Flight Hacks favourite and is highly regarded in terms of reliability and level of customer service.

Which Aircraft Will ANA Operate?

ANA’s 787 Dreamliner has 32 seats in business, and 14 seats in Premium economy for those looking for a bit more comfort. While the business class seats are the Zodiac seats with a 1-2-1 configuration, they aren’t the brand new “The Room” suites you will find on routes to Europe and the US.

How To Redeem Points?

You can redeem reward seats with ANA using your KrisFlyer miles or Virgin Atlantic points if you have an American Express Platinum card.

  • KrisFlyer: 102,00 KrisFlyer miles one way + taxes
  • FlyingClub: 45,000 FlyingClub miles one way + taxes

  1. Ive booked flights from Perth to Tokyo and then onto New York from the 25/12/22 but when i search those flights now it wont pop up. Does that mean they are not coming to Perth this year. If so what happens if they cancel the flight? Will i get my money back.

    • ohhh damn! I hope it’s not because they know something about the Japanese border opening timeframe that we don’t?!

  2. They won’t be resuming the route until March 26th 2023 at earliest. Extending the flight suspension even longer past that date is still not off the table.
