Atmos Rewards 2025: Alaska & Hawaiian Loyalty Scheme

Atmos Rewards is the new loyalty program for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines with flexible earning and new elite tiers.

Alaska Airlines purchased Hawaiian Airlines in September 2024, and since then, we have known that the company plans to launch a new streamlined loyalty program. Atmos Rewards is now here, and while similar to the previous Alaska Mileage Plan, the new scheme offers some exciting new benefits.

Alaska Airlines Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Harrison, describes Atmos Rewards as a reflection of how guests travel today.

“We listened to what our members value most and built a program that’s grounded in generosity, personalisation and practicality. We’re putting our members in the pilot’s seat, giving them control over how they earn and redeem, while honouring the legacy and values of both Alaska and Hawaiian.”

What You Need To Know About Atmos Rewards

Atmos Rewards is the new frequent flyer program for both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. You can think of Atmos Rewards as a slight refresh to the previous Alaska Mileage Plan, creating a unified loyalty scheme for both carriers.

While we don’t yet know everything about Atmos Rewards, there are some interesting changes that have been announced. Beyond these updates, most benefits of Alaska Mileage Plan will remain. Clarification is expected in 2026, but for now, here’s a quick rundown of the most significant changes.

  • Unified program: Atmos Rewards replaces both Alaska Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles.
  • Transition: Alaska Mileage Plan members have automatically transitioned to Atmos Rewards members. HawaiianMiles members will automatically transition on 1 October 2025.
  • Currency change: Your miles are now referred to as Points, and Elite-Qualifying Miles are referred to as Status Points. As this is only a name change, your balance will remain the same. If you had 10,000 miles, you now have 10,000 points.
  • Choose how you earn: From 2026, members can select to earn points based on distance flown, price paid, or segments flown.
  • Elite status: Tier names and some qualification requirements are updated.
  • Enhanced perks: Many elite perks will stay the same, with more on the way.
  • New award charts: Atmos Rewards uses new distance-based award charts.

What Is Atmos Rewards?

Atmos Rewards is the loyalty scheme for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. It replaces Alaska Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles, with a a single, unified frequent flyer program.

It’s basically a renamed version of the previous Alaska Mileage Plan, with a few added benefits and changes. The name comes from the word atmosphere, and is designed to represent a program that elevates travel and offers members more.

Choose How You Earn Status

Later in 2026, points and status points can be earned in one of three ways when flying with Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines. Members can select the earning option that works best for them and change their preference once a year;

  • Distance: Earn based on how far you fly, with 1 point per every mile flown.
  • Price: Earn based on how much you spend, with 5 points for every $1 spent.
  • Segments: Earn a flat 500 points for each flight segment flown.

Rebranded Atmos Rewards Status Tiers

Elite status tiers have been rebranded from Mileage Plan MVP tiers, with more traditional names under Atmos Rewards.

  • Atmos Silver (oneworld Ruby) replaces MVP
  • Atmos Gold (oneworld Sapphire) replaces MVP Gold
  • Atmos Platinum (oneworld Emerald) replaces MVP Gold 75K
  • Atmos Titanium (oneworld Emerald) replaces MVP Gold 100K

Miles and Elite-Qualifying Miles are also being rebranded. This means that your balance that is redeemable for rewards will be referred to as Points, and qualifying credits that help members unlock and retain status will be known as Status Points.

Status qualification requirements will not change until 2026, but even then, the changes are modest.

  • Atmos Silver: 20,000 Status Points (no change)
  • Atmos Gold: 40,000 Status Points (no change)
  • Atmos Platinum: 80,000 Status Points (previously 75,000)
  • Atmos Titanium: 135,000 Status Points (previously 100,000)

Atmos Titanium Receivce Global Upgrades

As of 2026, Atmos Rewards Titanium members will receive complimentary day-of-departure upgrades into Business Class, across the worldwide Alaska and Hawaiian network. This is an invaluable perk, and Alaska will become the first US airline to offer unlimited global upgrades for members with status.

Why Atmos Rewards Is Exciting For Australian Travellers

For Australian travellers, Atmos Rewards is especially exciting because it opens up far greater flexibility and value when flying across the Pacific and beyond. With Alaska and Hawaiian now unified under one programme, and fully integrated into the oneworld alliance, Australians can use Atmos Points not only for trips to Hawaii and the US mainland, but also on partners like Qantas, Cathay Pacific, and Japan Airlines.

The ability to choose how points are earned means members can tailor rewards to their travel style, whether that’s chasing cheap long-haul fares, flying premium cabins, or hopping frequently between islands. Add in the generous award sweet spots on global partners, and Atmos Rewards has the potential to become one of the most appealing foreign loyalty schemes for Australians looking to stretch their points further.
