Muscat-based Oman Air is set to join the Oneworld alliance next year. The flag carrier of Oman will join neighbours Royal Jordanian and Qatar Airways, alongside the likes of British Airways, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and Qantas.

But until its full integration and as of 22 October 2024, Oman Air became a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, and by the same token, Qantas joined Oman Air’s Sinbad loyalty scheme. Keen Qantas Frequent Flyers have now noticed that Classic Flight Rewards for travel on Oman Air are now bookable on the Qantas website.

For now, this includes travel in Economy and Business Class only, with Oman First Class Rewards (or Business Class Suites) expected to become available once Oman Air officially joins the Oneworld alliance in 2025.

By Middle Eastern standards, Oman Air is a relatively small airline, with just over 40 aircraft in its fleet. But what the carrier lacks in jets it makes up for elsewhere, earning a name for itself with above-average service and onboard dining.

How To Book Oman Air Flights With Qantas Points

While Oman Air doesn’t currently fly to Australia, it remains a valuable option for Qantas redemptions. Both Oman Air and Qantas serve Jakarta, Bangkok, and Manila, providing an alternative route to Europe. Oman Air is also noteworthy in Business Class, with its excellent airport lounges and onboard dining.

Classic Flight Rewards for travel on Oman Air are now bookable on the Qantas website. For now, there seems to be an error on the Qantas website, with some Oman Air flights only showing up on the ‘multi-city’ search tool. Let’s take a look at a few examples.

Muscat to London is available onboard the flagship Oman Air 787, with Business Class for 75,000 Qantas points plus £299.20 GBP (~580 AUD) in taxes and fees.

The same journey starting in Bangkok requires 104,500 Qantas points, but oddly half the taxes at ฿6,490 THB (~290 AUD).
