Finnair has just announced an interesting offer for those looking to stock up on Avios and boost their status tier points in the progress. For a limited time, you can buy Finnair Avios with a 50% bonus, this isn't as good as previous offers but this time you also get up to 10% bonus tier points. Tier points are what you need for Finnair oneworld status. Buying the maximum allowance during this promo would see you gain 20,000 Finnair Plus tier points, for context you would need 45,000 to get Finnair Plus Gold which is oneworld Sapphire.
“But Finnair doesn’t even fly to Australia,” I hear you say. That’s irrelevant, my friends. Since Finnair is now part of the Avios loyalty programme, you can easily transfer your points to British Airways or Qatar Airways. For example, a Qatar Airways saver fare (if you can find it) from Australia to Europe would cost you 90,000 Avios. Under this promotion, that works out to €1,260 + taxes and fees to fly Qatar Airways in business class. Pretty good!
This time around, Finnair is excluding new accounts from the sale, limiting it to those who joined before 16th November 2025. There's also a minimum balance required of 50 points. This is easy to achieve since you can instantly transfer British Airways Avios to Finnair Avios and British Airways Avios aren an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner.

Buy at least 5,000 Avios or more to get a discount. The discount structure is tiered as follows:

- 55,000–99,000 Bonus Points 40% - Tier Points 10%

To buy the full amount of 200,000 + 100,000 bonus Avios, you will spend €4,200, which is slightly more than the best possible British Airways Avios subscription (one of the best deals on the market).
Tip:
Most credit cards will attract a 3% surcharge, instead use something like the fee free debit card from Ubank (which currently comes with a $30 sign up bonus)
When Does It End?
Transactions must be completed between 19 November 2025 (00:00:01 EEST) and 30 November (23:59:59 UTC EEST) 2025 to earn the discount.
How Many Points Can I Buy?
Finnair Plus members can purchase for themselves or as a gift a maximum of 200,000 Avios in the calendar year. The combined maximum amount of Avios that a member can buy or receive is 200,000 Avios per calendar year.
Any Other Reasons to Buy?
Obviously, Finnair is part of the oneworld alliance, so you can spend your points on any oneworld partner airline (such as Qantas). Finnair also operates long haul flights between Europe and Asia, with plenty of award space available at excellent rates to Singapore and Bangkok.
Summing Up
This is a pretty compelling offer but not as good as the previous 40% discount! As always, I don’t recommend buying points speculatively unless you have use for them in the immediate future. You can buy Finnair Avios here.
