A few weeks ago Cathay Pacific launched their brand new business class lounge in the newly opened Terminal 4 at Changi Singapore Airport. This is also Cathay Pacific’s first dedicated lounge in Singapore, with seating room for 207 passengers. On a recent trip to Vietnam (via Singapore), I was invited by the Cathay Pacific marketing team to check out the new space on my way through.
Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge Terminal 4 Location
The new Cathay Pacific lounge in Changi T4 is located on the first level right after you clear security to the new terminal; an escalator takes you up to the sleek black entrance with the gold Cathay logo and friendly Cathay Pacific staff waiting at the entrance.
When you walk in, you will notice the ‘homely’ atmosphere thanks to the thoughtful design choices made by Studio Ilse, the London-based design studio led by Ilse Crawford. Guided by Cathay Pacific’s brand pillars – contemporary Asian, heartfelt warmth, considered simplicity, and the joy of discovery, the lounge aims to express the feeling of warmth and generosity.
If you’ve been to any of the Hong Kong Cathay Pacific lounges, you will feel right at home here. The design palette is muted with natural colours of wood and a touch of green. The first thing you will notice is the noodle bar which has ample seating throughout. The general seating area of the lounge has an open air feel as it’s connected with large windows to the rest of the terminal.
The number one factor that makes the Cathay Pacific lounges so comfortable is the variety of seating options available. It creates a more welcoming environment compared to more sterile looking lounges by their competitors. The seats are also packed with smart design choices such as built-in power sockets, handbag hooks at the high tables and mood lighting making it feel as if you’re at a swanky cocktail bar.
Food & Drinks
Cathay Pacific is famous for its noodle bar at the new business class lounges and the new Singapore T4 lounge did not disappoint. I had a Laksa for breakfast with some Dim Sum, because why not! The Noodle Bar offers a selection of signature noodle dishes including Wonton Noodle Soup and Dan Dan Noodles. Exclusive to the Singapore lounge, passengers can also enjoy a warm bowl of Singapore Laksa, a local favourite, before their flights.
There’s also a buffet for those that don’t feel like noodles and fridges with plenty of drink choices for all. Champagne on offer is Moët & Chandon, and sparkling water by San Pellegrino is also on offer.
It’s nice to see an airline not trying to skimp on costs when it comes to small luxuries like these.
Cathay Pacific Bathroom & Showers T4
The only downside about this lounge is that there are no showers. Cathay Pacific has fantastic shower facilities in Hong Kong, and it would have been nice to see them in Singapore Terminal 4. However, I don’t think it’s such a big deal here since T4 is mainly utilised for shorter intra-Asia flights.
The total space is also smaller compared to the lounges found in Hong Kong, so it’s understandable they tried to maximise the seating areas instead. The bathrooms, however, are excellent with plenty of space, golden taps and of course Aesop products.
The Cathay Pacific lounge at Changi Terminal 4 also has a small business centre with Apple computers which you can use if you didn’t bring your own.
Who Can Enter The Cathay Pacific Lounge at T4?
Entry to T4 is restricted to passengers with boarding passes for flights departing from T4 so if you’re flying out of T1, 2 or 3 you’re out of luck.
If you are departing from Terminal 4, passengers flying business or first are obviously invited and so are Marco Polo Club members holding Diamond, Gold or Silver as well as One World members holding either Emerald or Sapphire (which includes Qantas Gold or higher).
Just note that Qantas Club members (paid membership) are not able to access this lounge.
Overall Cathay Pacific has done a fantastic job creating a unique and comfortable space within the new Singapore Airport Terminal 4. I really think the variety of seating options and quality of food and drinks set them apart from other airlines. On this note, I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the CX team for inviting me down and taking their time to show me around the new lounge!
