Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Review
Crowne Plaza Changi Airport is one of the best, if no the best airport hotels in the world. One of the first reactions people have when they see pictures of the Crowne Plaza Changi are along the lines of “that’s an airport hotel??”.
If you didn’t know the location, the Crowne Plaza at Changi Airport could easily be confused with a downtown city location.
While most airport hotels around the world have traditionally offered the basics, Crowne Plaza decided on a different direction when they opened the hotel back in 2008.
The result is a beautiful airport hotel worth your attention when you stopover in Singapore next.
How To Book
Crowne Plaza is an IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group) brand so you may already have status through stays by holding a credit card or if you pay for the (excellent) Intercontinental Ambassador program. If this is the case, booking direct will give you the best rates and allow you to earn points + enjoy any benefits that might come with your status.
The best way to book direct would be to run your transaction through Shopback first. This means you will earn a 3.5% cash back on your stay, nice! If you’re not already registered with Shopback you can do so via our exclusive partner link and get $10 account credit when you make your first transaction.
If you have no idea what Shopback is, check out our Shopback review here.
Alternatively, I’m a big fan of hotels.com simply because they have a great rewards program (stay 10 nights, get 1 free). You can also run this through Shopback for a cash back of between 1%-4%.
Location
The Crowne Plaza is conveniently located in Terminal 3, and after a quick immigration check you’re there. Clear signage when you exit customs will point you in the right direction. Since it’s all connected to the terminal building, you won’t have to set foot outside the airport at all.
The Rooms
There are a variety of rooms on offer, my room on this occasion was the “Premium Runway View King Room” with club access.
There are 2 parts of the hotel, the first part opened back in 2008, and the new section was completed in 2016.
Conclusion
The Crowne Plaza Changi is the perfect spot to relax in between flights, while there are other options now such as Yotel Air Changi Airport, I find their lack of space and amenities warrant the slightly higher price of Crowne Plaza which has much more space in the rooms for your luggage as well, not to mention views!
Since Singapore Airport is so damn efficient, there’s no reason to stay airside on a layover either. Since Crowne Plaza is connected to the terminal, it’s a breeze to get to and from the gate in no-time.
Full disclosure: Although 99% of my travel is self-funded. On occasion, I do accept collaborations from hotels I already know and value. This stay was by invitation from Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. Opinions and pictures are my own.
