Sydney to Los Angeles

You can fly from Sydney to Los Angeles throughout most dates of the year for only $4,189 in business class. To put that in perspective, Qantas is asking a modest $8,047 for the same dates.

On top of that, you may get lucky and enjoy the business class cabin of EVA Air combined with the Kiwi hospitality of Air New Zealand since they are leasing 1 of their 777-300 jets 777-300 for the majority of the flights you will experience the Air New Zealand 777-300 on flights to the US and from some Australian cities to Auckland the B787.

Melbourne to Los Angeles

Melbourne to LA can be had for even less with business class prices starting at $4,171 return via Auckland.

Brisbane to Los Angeles

If you’re looking to travel from Brisbane, you will be able to get fares as low as $4,194 for many dates throughout the year with a connection in Auckland.

Perth to Los Angeles

For once, Perth isn’t left out either. Deals start at $4,579 for a return ticket in business class via Auckland to LA.

Earning Points

Since Air New Zealand is a Star Alliance member, you have plenty of options to credit your points to a program where you can make use of them later for a redemption. I’m personally gunning for Gold under Aegean Airlines (since I have a good stash of points there) but other options are also available.

If you’re not interested in Star Alliance, a potentially interesting partner to credit to is Virgin Atlantic. From Perth to LA via Auckland, you should be able to earn around 19,665 miles one way which is incredible value (assuming the booking fare code is J) from the east coast you will end up with approximately 15,716 Virgin Atlantic miles.
