Get 20% Off Marriott Gift Cards & 60% Bonus Points

Buy now, stay later seems to be a popular trend with many hotels around the world. Marriott has just launched its latest promotion on both gift cards and points; let’s check out the gift card offer first.

20% Discount On Marriott Gift Cards

From May 11 until May 17, 2020, you will be able to get 20% off Marriott gift cards purchased online (these are eGift cards and can be purchased via this site). There’s a limit of US$5,000 per person per day (in case you decide to go crazy on this promo).

Good To Know

Gift cards are sold in USD so make sure to use a credit card that doesn’t charge foreign exchange fees (usually 3%) or use a debit card such as Up with no exchange fees (PS. Use code FHACKS to get $10 when you sign up to a free Up bank account!).

  • eGift cards are delivered between 1 and 7 days from the time of purchase.
  • Not all hotels accept booking with Marriott gift cards. Hotels who are excluded are Design Hotels, Bulgari, Homes & Villas by Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club and The Ritz-Carlton Residences (not to be confused with “The Ritz Carlton”).
  • Do cards expire? No! This is a crucial benefit to note: gift cards do not expire.

60% Bonus Points When Buying Bonvoy Points

From May 18 and until June 30, you will also be able to buy Bonvoy points with a 60% bonus (highest ever offer). While I never recommend buying points speculatively, if you have plans for a luxury stay in the future, it could be worth investigating the retail price vs points price to see if you come out ahead. Personally, I think Marriott should run with a 100% bonus points sale, but that might be wishful thinking.

Summing Up

A 20% discount on future stays is pretty attractive, and I will be stocking up on a few gift cards for future travel. Marriott is a huge company, and considering the gift cards don’t expire, I don’t see Marriott disappearing anytime soon.
