Malaysia Airlines will ramp up its service between Adelaide and Kuala Lumpur to daily flights from February 2026, marking a significant boost in capacity for South Australia’s only direct link to Malaysia. At the same time, the carrier will introduce its brand-new Airbus A330neo aircraft on the route, bringing a fresh level of comfort to both business and leisure travellers.

The expansion will add more than 60,000 seats annually, with services increasing from five to six per week in November 2025, before becoming daily from February 2026. The boosted frequency is expected to provide more travel flexibility while strengthening Adelaide’s connections to Malaysia Airlines’ extensive global network.

Brenton Cox, Adelaide Airport Managing Director, was keen to highlight the service expansion.

“It’s a wonderful outcome for South Australians travelling to Malaysia and beyond, and to the overseas visitors travelling to Adelaide using the airline’s extensive route network…We know this service is popular with international students flying from Malaysia and further afield.”

Dersenish Aresandiran, Malaysia Airlines CCO of Airlines, explained that Australia remains a key market for the airline.

“We are delighted to strengthen our commitment to Adelaide by increasing services to daily flights…The introduction of our new A330neo aircraft marks a proud milestone, reflecting our commitment to service excellence and to carrying the Malaysian flag higher and further.”

Malaysia Airlines' A330neo can carry 297 passengers, with 28 Business suites and 269 Economy seats, including 24 with extra legroom. Business offers private ‘mini suites’ with sliding doors, providing greater comfort and privacy on long-haul journeys. Economy has been redesigned with ergonomically improved seating and more space. Passengers will also enjoy quieter engines, larger overhead bins, and improved lighting.

Beyond passenger comfort, the A330neo also represents a step forward in sustainability. The aircraft is 25% more fuel-efficient than the model it replaces, producing lower emissions and reducing the environmental impact of long-haul travel.

Malaysia Airlines flights currently depart Kuala Lumpur at 10.25pm and arrive in Adelaide at 7.00am the next day. Return flights depart Adelaide at 9.50am and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4.00pm.
