Oman Air Is Joining OneWorld Alliance - Here's What To Expect!
Oman Air joins OneWorld in 2024, offering seamless point redemptions and premium service across the Middle East.Oman Air is one of my favourite middle eastern airlines; their Apex Business Class seats and onboard service are some of the best in the industry. On top of that, Muscat Airport is only a few years old, making for a fantastic transit experience. Last year the airline hinted that they were interested in joining OneWorld, and yesterday the news was announced that Oman Air will be joining OneWorld in 2024.
Does this mean Qatar Airways is leaving OneWorld?
Definitely not! In fact, Qatar Airways sponsored Oman Air’s application to join and having integrated Avios recently; it would be very odd if Qatar ditched OneWorld anytime soon. I think Oman Air is a smart addition and will just increase the reach of OneWorld throughout the Middle East to compete with the likes of Emirates.
Oman and Qatar Airways are definitely on friendly terms especially given that Qatar Airways is even wet leasing some Oman Air aircraft to cope with demand at the moment.
Can you book Oman Air from Australia?
While Oman Air doesn’t fly to Australia, they do codeshare with Malaysia Airlines. I often recommend these fares to people looking for discounted business class flights out of Australia as they often go for half the price of their competitors.
For example, Perth to Frankfurt can be had for just $4628 return in business!
And if you’re flying out of Sydney, you can get deals to Milan for only $5158; good luck getting a deal like that with Qantas or Emirates!
Will we be able to use Qantas Frequent Flyer Points to book Oman Air?
Absolutely! Once Oman Air is integrated into the OneWorld family, you can use and earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points on Oman Air-operated flights.
While Oman Air doesn’t fly to Australia, they have a range of connections from Asia to Europe, making for a great redemption. Even when booking with cash, you can often find deals in business class from Asia to Europe return for around $2500.
On top of that, your Qantas status will also get you reciprocal benefits such as lounge access, priority boarding and extra baggage allowance when flying Oman Air in 2024.
What’s Oman Air Business Class Like?
Oman Air operates the very popular Apex suite, and while the configuration is 2-2-2, it’s actually one of the best seat set-ups, even offering all guests direct aisle access! Having flown them before, you can check out my Oman Air business class review here.
Summing Up
Oman Air will be a great addition to the OneWorld alliance and a massive benefit for those looking to earn and redeem points on this boutique airline!
