Plaza Premium Returns To Priority Pass Offering Access To 63 Lounges Worldwide

Just two years after Plaza Premium Lounges dumped access for Priority Pass members, the global airport lounge operator has lept back into bed with Priority Pass. Prior to July 2021, Priority Pass was recognised at over 1,200 airport lounges around the world, including most Plaza Premium lounges.

We suspect the two companies were struggling to negotiate reimbursement rates, but presumably, have now agreed on a price under a renegotiated contract. That relationship has now been mended, at least to the point where some 60 Plaza Premium lounges are rejoining the Priority Pass network this month. Locations including Hong Kong, Vancouver, London and Singapore are already back on the board, and in a few weeks time, Priority Pass members will gain access to an even longer list.

The Hong Kong-based Plaza Premium Group is the world’s largest operator of independent airport lounges, which have become increasingly popular among travellers without lounge access via frequent flyer status. The same applies to guests travelling with an airline that either operates an inferior lounge or doesn’t operate one at all.

Travellers can book directly with Plaza Premium at rates which vary depending on the location but generally range from US$50 to US$65 for a two-hour visit. On the other hand, Priority Pass operates a membership-based scheme that offers travellers access to airport lounges for between US$99 and US$429 per year. Those who opt for the cheapest tier will still be up for US$32 per visit, while the Prestige subscription offers unlimited free visits.

Additionally, American Express Platinum cardholders gain access to all Priority Pass lounges as part of their benefits. Check out our in-depth AMEX Platinum guide here for more.

In total, only around half of Plaza Premium’s lounge portfolio will return to Priority Pass, but this certainly adds more value to the paid lounge provider. The below Plaza Premium Lounge locations will once again become available for Priority Pass members as of 6th June 2023;

  • Addis Ababa (ADD)
