Qantas is Allowing Fee-Free Changes and Cancellations on Reward Bookings
Qantas now offers free changes and cancellations on reward bookings, adding more flexibility for travellers. As travel restrictions begin to ease, many are considering future travel plans within Australia and to New Zealand. In fact, plans for a “Trans-Tasman bubble” could be announced as early as July 1, far sooner than initially expected. Following these developments, Qantas is making it easier to get planning with increased flexibility on Classic Flight Reward bookings.
Change or cancel reward flights without fees
Following last week’s announcement of increased flexibility for paid flights, Qantas has now announced a similar offer for those looking to book reward seats.
Until 31 October 2020, you will not incur fees for changing the date or cancelling your Classic Flight Reward booking for flights with Qantas or Jetstar, for travel up to a year away. The offer covers both domestic and international reward bookings, where it normally would normally cost 6,000 Qantas points per passenger to cancel and get a refund.
Those with existing Classic Flight Reward bookings can also change or cancel their booking free of charge until 31 October 2020.
Note that to be eligible for the fee waiver, each flight in your booking must be a Classic Flight Reward. Unfortunately, bookings with combined Classic Flight Rewards and cash fares are not eligible for the fee waiver. Additionally, the normal reward assistance fee or service fee for changing your Classic Flight Reward booking through the Qantas contact centre will apply.
Summing Up
The added flexibility for Classic Flight Reward bookings is great news for travellers. Hopefully, these new measures will provide travellers with the reassurance that they can make changes to their booking should the current situation change.
