Qantas Los Angeles Business Lounge Receives Major Refresh
An upgraded experience awaits eligible Oneworld travellers at LAX
Qantas has unveiled a refreshed look for its Los Angeles Business Lounge, introducing a softer and more contemporary design that trades much of the old lounge’s dim and corporate aesthetic for a more relaxed, residential atmosphere. While the overall layout remains familiar, the upgrade brings lighter finishes, refreshed seating, additional charging options and a noticeably brighter feel to one of the airline’s most important international lounges.
Qantas’ Los Angeles lounge refresh has also delivered a much-needed 15% increase in capacity, with the revised layout now offering seating for 570 guests, up from the previous 500. That’s welcome news for frequent flyers, given the lounge’s reputation for overcrowding during Los Angeles’ peak departure periods.

This is more of a thoughtful refresh than a dramatic reinvention for the Los Angeles Business Lounge, with Qantas focusing on upgraded finishes and a softer overall aesthetic rather than a completely new space.

The refurbishment includes new flooring and concrete finishes, fresh paintwork and updated curtains throughout. The biggest change is the shift toward a lighter and more contemporary design language, with timber finishes, curved seating and greenery helping soften what was previously a dark, almost cave-like space.
Much of the existing furniture remains, including the leather lounges and upholstered armchairs familiar to regular travellers. New additions include sculptural two-tone armchairs finished in cream and tan leather, along with updated seating across the dining areas.

There is also a new skylight in the dining area, helping open up the space and brighten the overall atmosphere.

The circular fire pit remains one of the lounge’s signature spaces, and has been lifted with new wood panelling and restored navy leather seating. The refresh also includes additional power points across seating areas, making it easier for travellers to charge devices before long-haul flights.

The Los Angeles Business Lounge is a joint venture between Qantas, British Airways and Cathay Pacific. Because of this arrangement, the lounge does not accept complimentary Qantas lounge invitations. Instead, access is limited to Qantas Gold and above, and Oneworld Sapphire and above frequent flyers, when travelling on an eligible Oneworld flight. Qantas Club members are also permitted, provided they hold an annual membership.
While Qantas handles much of the lounge’s styling and day-to-day operations, the three airlines jointly operate the space as part of their broader Oneworld presence at LAX.
Summing Up
It may not be a ground-up rebuild, but Qantas’ refreshed Los Angeles Business Lounge looks to be considerably more polished and contemporary than before. Combined with the extra capacity, the update gives Qantas and its Oneworld partners a far more competitive premium lounge offering at one of their most important international gateways.
