Velocity Frequent Flyer is back with one of its regular transfer bonus promotions, offering up bonus Velocity Points on transfers from Commbank Awards. If your Velocity balance is looking a little tired, or you have a flight redemption in mind but lack the points to book, the latest Velocity transfer bonus is here to get you jetting off sooner.

While it is disappointing that Velocity has only included just one banking partner this time around, it’s still a welcome bonus for Commbank Awards cardholders.

10-15% Bonus On Commbank Transfers

You can score up to 15% bonus Velocity Points when transferring Commbank Awards to Velocity Frequent Flyer once the promotion goes live, between 11 – 26 September 2024. The bonus is offered based on the number of Velocity Points received from Commbank transfers, as follows;

  • 10% bonus on transfers up to 50,000 Commbank Awards
  • 15% bonus on transfers of 50,001+ Commbank Awards

There’s no need to activate this offer, simply transfer Commbank Awards to Velocity Points during the promotion window. CommBank Awards transfers may take up to 5 business days to land in the Velocity membership account.

How To Transfer Combank Awards To Velocity

Converting Combank Awards to Velocity Points can become a little confusing if you’ve never transferred before. Here’s how its done, step-by-step;

  • Log on to Netbank and click ‘View Awards’ below the applicable card.
  • Scroll down and click ‘Go to Awards site’.
  • Choose the ‘Redeem’ tab in the top menu bar, then ‘Redeem now’ under travel.
  • Under Frequent Traveller Conversion, select ‘Velocity Frequent Flyer’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Enter the amount of Awards Points to convert and select ‘Calculate’.
  • Review the details, then enter your Velocity Number and select ‘Redeem’.

Should I Transfer My Points?

At Flight Hacks, we love Velocity Frequent Flyer’s regular transfer bonus promotions. These offers are a great way to maximise the value of your flexible bank reward points, especially if you have a specific flight redemption in mind.

Although, we do still advise against transferring points to Velocity just because there is a bonus running, as this will wipe the flexibility of holding bank reward points. As soon as you make that transfer, you’re restricted to Velocity, as opposed to having the option to send bank rewards elsewhere when that Business Class Reward Seat pops up with another frequent flyer scheme.

That said, if the bonus is tempting enough, a speculative transfer could prove worthwhile.
