Low-cost carrier VietJet has launched its inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Perth, marking a significant expansion of its network in Australia. This new route provides passengers with another option for travelling to Vietnam, with a convenient stopover in Perth en route to Adelaide. Prices are looking good too, with return fares available from Au$524 which is a bargain!
Scott Woodward, Chief Operating Officer at Perth Airport, welcomed the arrival of VietJet, saying, “It is a great sign for Western Australia to see airlines show keen interest in delivering new air services to Perth Airport and opening up non-stop access to new international destinations”.
The new route will operate five times weekly, utilising a modern A321neo aircraft configured with 230 seats.
In addition, Vietnam Airlines will launch a new non-stop service between Perth and Ho Chi Minh City in December, further expanding the options available for travellers.
Commencing on December 7, Vietnam Airlines will fly return three times per week from Perth to Ho Chi Minh City on a 274-seat 787 Dreamliner, adding over 85,000 seats and nearly 6,000 tonnes of cargo capacity per year between WA and Vietnam.
This will result in two direct flight options being available to Vietnam, catering to both leisure and business travellers.
With VietJet’s entry into the market, passengers can now choose from multiple flights and fare options to visit Vietnam. Whether travelling for work or pleasure, the increased competition is sure to benefit consumers as demand to and from Australia increases.
As VietJet begins its operations in Perth, it joins a growing list of airlines connecting Western Australia to the world with the new Qantas Perth to Paris route set to go live next year as well.
