Virgin Australia has refreshed their existing Accelerate program for small to medium-sized business (SME) customers, with the new Virgin Australia Business Flyer program now up and running. The airline says SME travel demand is soaring to levels not seen in two years, with the new program targeting this market, while recognising and providing excellent value and affordability.
Virgin Australia Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka said that great value and award-winning service are at the heart of Virgin Australia.
“We are continuing to provide exceptional service experiences and product offerings at great value prices,” said Mrs Hrdlicka.
“There is no other Australian airline that offers a free rewards program for businesses, lounges in every capital city and three types of domestic seating choices,” she added.

- Free membership with no sign-up cost and no minimum spend
- Up to 6% off Virgin Australia flights
- Velocity Points earnt by the businesses
- Two Velocity Pilot Gold memberships for members who join and spend at least $2,000 on flights within the first three months

Virgin Australia Business Flyer: Loyalty Tiers
After joining for free, Virgin Australia Business Flyer members will receive Velocity Points for their business, in addition to those already earnt by the individual flying. Velocity Points earnt by a business can be reinvested into staff travel and upgrades, or transferred to any personal Velocity member.
The program brings three new loyalty tiers, with increasing benefits as members spend and fly more.
Tier 1 – $0 to $9,999 spend p.a
- Earn 1 point per $1 spent on eligible flights
- 4% off Economy Flex fares and 6% off Business Class fares
- $379 discounted Virgin Australia Lounge Membership
- Two Pilot Gold Memberships for three months after spending $2,000 on flights within the first three months of joining
Tier 2 – $10,000 to $49,999 spend p.a
- Benefits included in Tier 1 membership, plus:
- Earn 1.5 points per $1 spent on eligible flights
- Other exclusive benefits and offers
Tier 3 – $50,000 to $300,000 spend p.a
Benefits included in Tier 2 membership, plus:
- Earn 2 points per $1 spent on eligible flights
- Fast track to Velocity Gold membership
- Even more exclusive benefits and offers
Existing Accelerate Members
Members of the previous Accelerate program will automatically be transitioned into the new Virgin Australia Business Flyer loyalty program. As a result, Virgin Australia Accelerate will be discontinued today.
To celebrate Accelerate customers being the first businesses to upgrade to the Virgin Australia Business Flyer rewards program, they will receive:
- Bonus Velocity Points for their business – calculated for those members who have travelled between 1 January to 28 February 2022
- A tier jump that reflects the last 12-months of travel spending with Virgin Australia
