Velocity Frequent Flyer has launched a new partnership with Dream Home Art Union, Australia's biggest prize home lottery. I really didn’t expect Velocity to partner with a lottery company, but here we are!

The new deal unlocks up to 20,000 bonus Velocity Points over the course of a year for members who join the lottery program’s VIP Club, on a $50 or higher monthly subscription. You will earn 10,000 Velocity Points after your second payment date, plus a further 1,000 Points after every monthly payment for the next 10 months.

For those paying attention, joining Dream Home Art Union and cancelling after the second payment goes through is an easy 10,000 Velocity Points for $100. You can continue the subscription for a further 10,000 Velocity Points, although at $50 per month for 10 months, the extra $500 isn’t really worth the points on offer.

3. On the welcome page, click ‘Link Account’ on the Velocity banner and enter your details.

If you can’t locate the Velocity option in the final step of setting up your subscription, you can link your account afterwards. Is This Deal Worth It?

For savvy points collectors, the obvious play is to join, make two $50 payments, and pocket 10,000 Velocity Points for $100. This would mean you’re paying 1 cent per point, or earning 100 points per dollar spent - which is an excellent return.

Sticking with the subscription for the full 12 months nets you another 10,000 points, but the value proposition drops significantly. A further $50 per month for 10 months would mean an extra $500 spent, meaning those additional points come at 5 points per dollar, which is quite poor.

All up, the initial bonus is a respectable offer from Velocity. If you were to buy 10,000 Velocity Points, it would cost $325. Even with the biggest 40% discount we’ve seen on Velocity Point purchases, you’re still better off under this deal.
