Alaska Airlines Partners With STARLUX

Alaska Airlines has announced a new partnership with Taipei-based premium carrier Starlux Airlines, as the latter has just launched its inaugural transpacific service between Taipei and Los Angeles. This alliance marks Starlux first airline partnership which is exciting news for those of us who’d love to redeem miles on Starlux flights!

Members of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan can now earn miles on all Starlux flights, with the ability to redeem miles on Starlux coming later this summer. Promotional redemptions for flights between Los Angeles and Taipei will begin at 20,000 miles for economy class, 40,000 for premium economy, and 60,000 for business class.

The partnership will provide travellers with greater connectivity, as Starlux Taipei hub offers access to 16 destinations across Asia, including Bangkok, Hanoi, Penang, Manila, Singapore, Macau, and Sapporo. Additionally, Alaska Airlines’ Los Angeles hub will enable seamless connections to Starlux flights for passengers along the West Coast.

Starlux transpacific flights utilises the Airbus A350-900, featuring first, business, premium economy, and economy class options. All passengers can pre-order meals online, enjoying a tailored in-flight dining experience.

Earning And Redeeming Alaska Miles on Starlux

As of now, Alaska Mileage Plan members can start earning miles on all Starlux flights. However, only redeemable miles can be accrued.

Beginning this summer, Alaska Mileage Plan members will have the opportunity to redeem miles on Starlux flights for economy, premium economy, and business class seats. However, first-class redemptions will not be possible. For a limited period, one-way mileage redemption rates for flights between Los Angeles and Taipei will start at 20,000 miles for economy, 40,000 miles for premium economy, and 60,000 miles for business class.

At the moment, the exact date when redemptions will become available remains unclear, along with the long-term redemption costs, including for travel to destinations beyond Taipei.

The partnership between Alaska Airlines and Starlux will enable travellers to book itineraries that include travel on both airlines, offering more seamless connections and an enhanced travel experience.
