Pro Tip: Earn Triple Points

The Qantas Points your business earns when flying will be tripled when you book eligible flights with your Card (this is in addition to the 2 points per $1 earn rate on Qantas products)

Qantas Business Rewards vs Qantas Frequent Flyer

The American Express Qantas Business Rewards card is aimed at small to medium business owners who are looking to earn points in the Qantas Business Rewards program.
The Amex Qantas Business Rewards Card earns a healthy 1.25 Qantas Frequent Flyer Points on most everyday purchases and is boosted to 2 points per dollar when you spend directly with Qantas.

Instead of earning points directly to your personal Qantas Frequent Flyer account, Card members will earn points in their Qantas Business Rewards account (free to join) which is linked to the company ABN.

This means that a business with multiple employees can pool the total points in the business account and from there distribute them to anyone they wish. If you’re not already a Qantas Business Rewards member, they joining fee of $89.5 is waived when you sign up online.

This offers more flexibility to the business owner who can decide how the points are spent. Since they can be sent to anyone with a Qantas Frequent Flyer number, they can be used as a company incentive for example.

Good To Know

After a total of 500,000 Qantas Points is earned in a calendar year, the everyday business earn rate will change from 1.25 to 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 spent.

Triple Qantas Points

In addition to standard earn rates, as a QBR member, you earn additional points on Qantas flights when you enter your ABN number at the time of booking. The QBR Points your business earns when flying will be tripled when you book eligible flights with your Card. Eligible flights are either domestic or international flights with a QF number purchased in Australia and operated by Qantas, Emirates or American Airlines. Triple points are capped at 4 million points per membership year.

The QBR points earned are not related to the spend on your Amex QBR Card, but rather based on the Frequent Flyer points the individual earns which is then multiplied by 20-40% depending on your membership level. QBR members start at Level 1 and can move up to Level 3 depending on how many QBR points they earn in a year.

I already have a personal Amex card, can I get the bonus?

American Express has a rule that determines eligibility for sign-up bonuses on new cards. Currently, both personal and business cards fall under the same category when it comes to sign-up bonuses. This means that if you currently hold, or have held, an Amex Card within the last 18 months, you won’t be eligible for the bonus.

However, there is one exception: Card Members who currently hold or have held an American Express Corporate Card. These individuals can still apply for a personal or business American Express card and receive the sign-up bonus, provided they meet all other criteria.
