Cathay Pacific’s loyalty program Asia Miles has just launched a bonus transfer offer from selected credit card partners in Australia and around the world.
Asia Miles members must register (you can do so here) and transfer points from their preferred flexible rewards program to Asia Mils to lock in a bonus of 10-15%, depending on how many miles you transfer.
How the Asia Miles Bonus Transfer Works
The transfer bonus offered by Asia Miles works in a tiered system.
- 10% Bonus Miles: transfer less than 30,000 Asia Miles
- 15% Bonus Miles: transfer more than 30,000 Asia Miles
Which Australian Cards Are Participating?
In Australia, we have access to a range of flexible reward programs that work with Asia Miles. They are:
- American Express: transfer rate 2:1 (learn how to maximise your Amex Membership Rewards)
- Citi Bank: transfer rate 3:1
- Westpac Altitude Rewards: transfer rate 3:1
- Commbank Rewards: transfer rate 3:1
- NAB Rewards: transfer rate 3:1
- ANZ Rewards: transfer rate 3:1
- HSBC Rewards Plus: transfer rate 2:1
Card Promo: if you’re looking for a flexible rewards credit card, currently, you can get 140,000 Westpac Altitude Rewards and a reduced annual card fee of $99 with the Westpac Altitude Black Mastercard.
Terms & Conditions
To get the bonus miles, you must first register your AsiaMiles number and complete the transfer of points from your bank to AsiaMiles before November 12, 2022.
Cathay Pacific Miles Extension
If your miles in your AsiaMiles are about to expire, Cathay Pacific also offers a miles extension if you transfer points during this promotion. While new points transferred in don’t expire anymore, any points earned before the program changes still do expire, so this is an excellent opportunity to extend those miles. Miles that can still expire are those that were earned before January 1 2020.
AsiaMiles has moved to an activity-based system where your miles never expire as long as you have account activity at least once every 18 months. This activity can be earning miles, transferring miles or redeeming miles.
To be eligible for the miles extension, you need to transfer a minimum of 30,000 AsiaMiles.
Dining Promotion For Hong Kong Members
If your account is registered in Hong Kong, you can also win a dining experience if you are one of the top 1,000 converters during the promotion period. Members can choose if they want to win an afternoon tea at The Upper House or a lunch at The Peninsula Hong Kong.
Best Use Of AsiaMiles?
Since AsiaMiles is a OneWorld program, you can redeem your points for flights other than Cathay Pacific as well. This includes all the OneWorld partners such as Qantas, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines and many more. My favourite use of AsiaMiles is Qatar Airways which only costs 90,000 AsiaMiles for a one-way business class flight from Australia to Europe or Japan Airlines with a mix of Business and First Class.
For example, you can book Sydney to Haneda in business class and Haneda to London in first class for only 114,700 AsiaMiles which is a bargain in my book!
It’s also more lucrative to use AsiaMiles for Qantas bookings. On domestic routes, you will only be paying 30,000 AsiaMiles which is much cheaper than Qantas Frequent Flyer Points.
A well-written and informative piece that will be helpful to anyone looking to make the most of their travel rewards. Thanks for sharing!
