Back in February, Qantas and BP Australia launched the first stage of their new partnership, which linked Qantas Business Rewards and BP Plus. Now, Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn Qantas points on fuel and in-store purchases through the BP Rewards loyalty program. Plus, new BP Rewards members can earn a bonus of up to 50 status credits and 500 Qantas points.

Pick Your Perk: Qantas vs BP Rewards
BP Rewards allows customers to earn either Qantas Points or BP Points. If you choose to earn BP Points, you can redeem 500 points to get $5 off fuel or in-store purchases. Alternatively, you can redeem BP Points for gift cards at BP’s participating retail partners such as David Jones.
If you decide to earn BP Points at first, you can still transfer these points to Qantas Frequent Flyer at a 1:1 ratio by changing your earning preference to Qantas Points.
How many BP Rewards can I earn?
You can earn points on fuel and in-store purchases by swiping your Qantas Frequent Flyer or BP Rewards card, or the digital alternatives through the BPme or Qantas app.
The earn rates for Qantas Frequent Flyer members are as follows:
- 2 Qantas Point per litre of BP Ultimate 98
- 1 Qantas Point per litre of all other fuels (including Diesel and LPG)
- 1 Qantas Point for every $1 spent on eligible in-store purchases
The above rates are also the same if you choose to earn BP Points instead. Eligible in-store purchases exclude items such as smoking products, gift cards and mobile phone recharge vouchers.
BP Rewards Signup Bonus
As a special launch offer, Qantas and BP Australia are offering up to 50 status credits and 500 Qantas points for new BP Rewards members. By joining the BP Rewards program and linking your Qantas Frequent Flyer account before June 30 2020, you will receive a bonus of 100 Qantas points and 10 status credits.
Additionally, you can earn 200 bonus points when you make your first eligible purchase within 14 days of signup, plus a further 200 bonus points on your second eligible purchase!!
And it doesn’t stop there! For every 1,000 Qantas Points earned through BP Rewards before June 30 2020, you will also receive 10 status credits. You can earn up to 40 status credits in total by earning 4,000 Qantas Points. Admittedly, this target will be hard for most to achieve.
How to join BP Rewards
The process to join BP Rewards is relatively simple:
- Step 1: Go to bprewards.com.au and click on the ‘Join now’ button
- Step 2: Fill out the form with your personal details and your BP Rewards card number if you picked one up in-store. Proceed to the next step by clicking ‘Create your account’
- Step 3: Check your email for a link to set your password
- Step 4: After setting your password you will see the below option. Select to earn either BP Points or Qantas Points.
Step 5: If you choose Qantas Points you will be given a prompt to enter your Qantas Frequent Flyer number and your last name. You should receive an email confirming your accounts are linked within minutes.
Step 6: Head to your nearest BP Petrol Station to start earning!!
BP Rewards – Summing up
The Qantas Frequent Flyer and BP Rewards partnership is another great way to earn Qantas points on fuel. You can also earn Qantas points on fuel with the Caltex-Woolworths Rewards partnership, although the earn rate is not as competitive as BP Rewards.
