Etihad To Bring Back The A380?

It was a sad day when we all learned Etihad would be retiring its entire A380 fleet due to the pandemic. Etihad’s A380 featured some of the most luxurious seats in the sky with their first-class “Appartments” and super-exclusive residence, which has a separate bedroom and bathroom.

At the start of 2020, I was flying back to Australia (New Years’ day) onboard the Etihad A380 in first class; little did I know what was about to unfold!

Fast forward 2 years, it looks like Etihad is about to bring back their A380s!

When & where?

Aviation UAE reports that 5-6 A380 will be brought back to life with the first route to start from AUH (Abu Dhabi) to LHR (London) in December.

Summing Up

I’m surprised Etihad hasn’t made a move to bring back the A380 sooner. European/US summer is a hot travel period, especially as capacity is back to pre-pandemic levels, but supply is not there to match it.

Time will tell if this goes ahead but in the meantime, get your miles ready to book!

Tip: learn how to use AAdvantage miles to book Etihad first class.
