Yep, you read that right; there’s a way you can fly from Australia to New Zealand for AU$257 (give or take) in business one way onboard Air New Zealand. Regardless of your city of departure, the price remains the same, so obviously, Perth to Auckland is a clear winner here!

Tip: read our Air New Zealand B787 Business Review here.

Tell me more!?

Virgin Atlantic is an Air New Zealand partner when it comes to redeeming miles, and as luck has it, their miles are currently on sale with a 70% bonus!

This means when you buy 100,000 Virgin Atlantic miles, you receive 170,000 during the promo period. That’s enough for 11 (not one) business class flights to New Zealand.

How To Get The Miles?

If you’re new to Virgin Atlantic, you will need some earning activity in your account before you can buy miles. Luckily they offer 100 bonus points when you sign up for the newsletter.

  • Visit Virgin Atlantic, sign up for Flying Club (their member program)
  •  Look out for the email newsletter pop-up
  •  Sign up for the email and wait a day for your miles to credit
  •  Head back to your account and find the “buy miles” section
  •  Purchase 100,000+ miles to get the 70% bonus

How To Book Air New Zealand With Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles?

Now comes the tricky part…finding availability! Of course, you will need to work for these seats; after all, you’re getting them at a fraction of the retail price! To quickly find seats, create a free account with United Airlines and use their website and calendar view search function to look for availability. If you struggle to find seats, learn how to set up an alert using Expert Flyer using our guide! For other ideas on how to book Air New Zealand using points, check out our guide here.

Once you find a seat, call up Virgin Atlantic (1-800-365-9500) and lock in your seat for just 15,000 miles one way + taxes (around $100).

What Else?

If you can’t use the miles for Air New Zealand, you can always redeem them for some fun travel (in the future…) on ANA’s flagship business or first-class suite to Europe. From Haneda to London, those tickets only cost 60,000 miles in first-class; that’s insane!

  1. What about the prices? For the ones that still don’t have an account. Can you maybe screenshot the prices for 100.000 points?

    Thanks
