Are you already a Gold or a Platinum member with Starwood preferred guests, Marriot Rewards Gold or Platinum, IHG Rewards Club, and World of Hyatt? Well, great news for you, because now the Hilton Loyalty Program is offering a ‘status match’ promotion. Even if you have a loyalty program that is not listed under this promotion, you can still submit your application for consideration.

The perks!

Get this, some of the top perks you’ll get from the status match are free breakfast, late check-outs, which means you can leave late, room upgrades, lounge access and even free second guest stays. These perks are meant for Gold and Diamond status holders and the perks will be yours from 90 days to a full year under the status match promotion.

Here’s how to get started

If you are already a member of Hilton Honors, all you need to do is fill out your details such as name, email address and your Hilton Honors number at the Hilton Honors webpage. Click on the image below to get to the page.

If you’re not a Hilton Honors member yet, be sure to register first. Register for free here.

Here you will need to select Hotel loyalty programs from the drop-down list. If your hotel loyalty program is not on the list, Hilton Honors will still be able to consider your application if you select others. But be sure to state your status with that program.

Next is to provide proof of the membership card which can be a screenshot. In addition to that, you’ll have to provide your most recent account activity. If you have personal and private details that you do not want to disclose, best to black that information out up front before you send it over. The only details that must be disclosed is your name and account number.

And once you’re all good, you can proceed to check your status. It will take a couple of days for Hilton Honors to process the application. If you’re lucky, you might get a quick response (within 2 hours of applying). But once your application is successful, you should be getting an email confirming your match status. It will mention that your Gold or Diamond status will be valid for 90 days and that you’ll have to stay for 4 to 8 days. (Note that they will mention STAYS and not NIGHTS).

And with that, you can extend your status match up to 31st March 2019. This is indeed a good offer given that the normal requirement is 20 stays and 40 nights, or an earning of 75,000 Hilton honors base points for Hilton honors Gold.

As for Hilton Honors Diamond, the normal stay requirement is 30 stays and 60 nights, or 120,000 Hilton Honors base points. With this promotion, you’ll only be required to meet the 8 stay requirement.

This may seem like a reasonably good promotion by Hilton Honors. Some may argue that back in 2016, the status match was offered without having a stay requirement (considered a way better deal). But if you compare with the normal stay requirement above, it is still a generous offer. All you need to do is stay for as little as 4 to 8 stays.

Use credit cards to achieve Hilton Honors status

The other way you can obtain Hilton Honors status is through credit cards. A card that give you automatic status is the  American Express Platinum Charge, which gets you gold for SPG, Marriott and Shangri La. You can then use this to get Hilton Honors gold via a match.
