InterContinental Hayman Island
The Maldives too far for you? We have our own piece of paradise, right here in Australia and it’s called Hayman Island. The most northern island in the Whitsundays, it was devastated by a tropical cyclone a few years ago.
Since then, the IHG group has rebuilt the place into the most luxurious InterContinental Hotel in Australia. What’s it like? I’ll be able to tell you in a few weeks as I’ve booked myself in for a few nights at the end of the month. However, it’s safe to say this place is 100% amazing and a short flight away from Brisbane, Sydney and even Melbourne.

Indigo Seminyak Bali
Indigo is one of my favourite IHG brands (apart from InterContinental). It has a more “boutique” vibe and focuses on local culture as part of the hotel concept.
I stayed at the Indigo Seminyak a few years ago when it just opened and was impressed with the hotel, rooms, service and food. I highly recommend getting a suite here since they are great value for money — the hotel has a range of outdoor pools where you can relax after exploring Bali.

InterContinental Fiji
Bula! Fiji is another excellent destination if you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway. Flights are only three and a bit hours and enjoyable thanks to the new Fiji Airways A350 which now operates from Sydney. The highly-rated InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa is also part of the IHG New Year Offer and can be enjoyed for a fraction of the Maldivian hotel prices!
