Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer members now have access to accelerated rewards, thanks to a status match program between the two loyalty schemes. Partnerships between airlines and hotels are not new for both elite perks and points earning, although Marriott is arguably one of the best when it comes to landing top airline frequent flyer programs. In Australia, Accor is tied up with Qantas in a similar fashion.

The revamped agreement allows Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite members to unlock instant KrisFlyer Elite Silver, with a path to KrisFlyer Elite Gold. By the same token, KrisFlyer Elite Silver members can match to Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status, while KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members can access instant Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. If you didn’t already hate programs adding ‘elite’ to make us feel special, you will by the end of this article!

John Toomey, a Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Marriott, was pleased to announce the strengthened partnership today.

“This is a significant milestone that not only marks the extension of our global airline programme but also reaffirms our commitment to continuously enhance our approach to customer loyalty.”

“Strengthening our partnership with Marriott allows KrisFlyer members to unlock even greater benefits, while enjoying more ways to earn and redeem their points and miles,” adds Dai Haoyu, Singapore Airlines’ Acting Senior Vice President of Marketing.

There are a few caveats to the deal, which is admittedly one-sided depending on where your loyalty lies. Here’s what you need to know about applying for a status match with Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer.

Understanding Marriott Bonvoy And Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

Marriott Bonvoy stands as one of the world’s largest hotel loyalty schemes, with Marriott International the parent to nearly 8,700 hotels across 139 countries and territories worldwide. Even if you’re not familiar, you’d probably recognise most of Marriott’s brands including The Ritz Carlton, Sheraton, Mozy and Westin.

Marriott Bonvoy offers five status tiers; Silver Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite. The program rewards members with increasingly luxurious benefits as they progress the ranks, from room upgrades to late check-outs and complimentary breakfast.

The loyalty program of Singapore Airlines, KrisFlyer, also provides premium perks for its status holders. Members start off as a basic KrisFlyer member, with Elite Silver, Elite Gold, The PPS Club and Solitare PPS Club beyond that. Priority boarding and lounge access kicks in from Gold, while top-tier members who satisfy the massive spend enjoy private immigration and ultra-exclusive lounge access in Singapore.

  1. Seems Bonvoy members lose out to Krisflyer (no surprise there). Krisflyer Gold get instant Bonvoy Gold – lounge access late, check out etc…. Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador get Silver – which gives no benefits (no business check in, lounge access etc… seems a bad deal to me!
