After some teasing and much speculation, British Airways has finally released its new Club World (aka business class) seat and damn; it looks nice!
While British Airways were the first to introduce flat beds (for a great read on the history, check out this post on AusBt) in business class; that was a long time ago, and they’ve since struggled to keep up with the competition (Qatar Airways Qsuite for example…). That’s now changing with the introduction of the new “Club Suites” featuring:
- Privacy doors
- Direct aisle access
- Super Diamond seats (reverse herringbone)
- 18.5 Inch display
If you’re thinking…hang on, that seat looks familiar. You are right!
The Super Diamond seat design is used by Virgin Australia, Hainan Airlines, Qatar Airways, American Airlines, Air Canada, China Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines and the Dutch KLM to name a few.
I guess the saying goes: better late than never?
However, British Airways have done an insane job styling the seat because it looks absolutely amazing. From the renders, we can see a stylish colour palette of charcoal and lighter greys with some wooden detailing and the shiny silver trim British Airways is known for. The seat itself has some contrast stitching and a crisp white headrest cover.
British Airways will be running their brand new A350 on a short familiarisation route between London and Madrid starting from August. My pick is BA 460 because the B777 currently operates that.
Luckily I will be in Europe in August so I will definitely be booking a quick trip when the routes are finalised.
From October 1, passengers can expect the new A350 on the London-Toronto route (9BA92/BA93) closely followed by a second A350 on the London-Dubai route from October 8. In the meantime, BA is refurbishing all 777-200’s in operation, a job that should be complete by the end of 2019
In any case, this is a huge leap forward for British Airways, and I can’t wait to see (and fly) this seat in person!
