Oman Air joins oneworld

Oman Air has officially joined the oneworld alliance as its 15th member airline, effective 1 July 2025. This move significantly bolsters oneworld’s presence in the Middle East and unlocks new travel possibilities across Oman Air’s network in the region, Africa, Asia, and Europe. “We are proud to welcome Oman Air to the oneworld family,” said Nat Pieper, CEO of oneworld, “Oman Air brings valuable strategic reach and award-winning product and service to the alliance. This partnership opens up exciting new connections for our customers, particularly across the Gulf and South Asia, and reinforces oneworld’s position as the premium alliance for international travellers.”

With Oman Air’s induction, oneworld customers gain access to the Omani carrier’s routes, including a new non-stop Muscat–Amsterdam service launching this week, at the same time Oman Air passengers can now tap into oneworld’s global network of 900+ destinations through interline and codeshare partnerships.

Alliance Benefits and Enhanced Frequent Flyer Perks

As a full oneworld member, Oman Air will provide the customary alliance benefits to frequent flyers. Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby members (such as Qantas Platinum, Gold and Silver) enjoy priority check-in, boarding, extra baggage allowances and lounge access when flying on Oman Air. Likewise, Oman Air’s own top-tier Sindbad frequent flyers gain entry to nearly 700 airport lounges worldwide and other elite perks when traveling across the alliance. “Oman Air is honoured to be joining the oneworld alliance, whose members and global footprint represent the best of what international travellers want to experience,” said Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis.

Benefits for Qantas Frequent Flyers

  • Earn & Redeem Points: Qantas Frequent Flyer members can now earn Qantas Points and Status Credits on Oman Air flights (with an WY flight number), in addition to redeeming points for award seats. Oman Air had already joined as a Qantas Frequent Flyer redemption partner in late 2024, which enabled Classic Flight Reward bookings on Oman Air. Now, with full oneworld integration, Qantas has extended points-and-status earning to Oman Air-operated flights. (At time of writing, Qantas is expected to update its website with eligible fare classes and the standard partner reward chart for Oman Air redemptions.) Notably, Oman Air’s premium Business Studio (first-class-equivalent suites) awards are also set to become bookable with Qantas Points as the airline joins the alliance.
  • Lounge Access & Priority: Effective immediately, Qantas Gold, Platinum and Platinum One members (oneworld Sapphire/Emerald) enjoy reciprocal lounge access and priority services when flying Oman Air. For example, a Qantas Gold flying Oman Air via Muscat or Bangkok can now access Oman Air’s lounges, which was not possible prior to alliance membership. Similarly, Oman Air’s Sindbad Gold members will have access to Qantas Club and other oneworld lounges when traveling in Australia or elsewhere on the alliance network.
  • New Route Options: Oman Air’s network adds alternative routing choices for Australian travellers heading to Europe, Middle East or Africa. While Oman Air doesn’t fly to Australia directly, it serves numerous Asian gateway cities like Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Manila and more – all of which are accessible from Australia via Qantas or partner airlines. This means Aussies can, for instance, fly from Sydney or Perth to Asia and then connect on Oman Air to destinations such as London, Paris, or Johannesburg, all on a single alliance itinerary, earning Qantas points throughout.
  • Great Fare Deals (Now with Points Earn): Oman Air has earned a reputation for excellent business class sale fares between Asia and Europe, which is part of its appeal to savvy Aussies. In fact, Flight Hacks previously found that flying Oman Air can cost nearly half the price of competing carriers – for example, Perth–Frankfurt round-trip in Business Class was about A$4,628 and Sydney–Milan about A$5,158 on Oman Air (with a Malaysia Airlines connection to Asia). Such itineraries, often routed via Southeast Asia and Muscat, offered exceptional value for cash tickets. Now, thanks to oneworld integration, those who take advantage of Oman Air’s competitive fares can also earn Qantas Points and Status Credits on the Oman Air segments, making these deals even sweeter. Even when starting in Asia, Oman Air’s business return fares have been as low as ~A$3,000 to Europe, allowing Australian frequent flyers willing to position to an Asian hub to save money while still accruing Qantas status.

Oman Air’s Network and Premium Experience

Based in Muscat, Oman Air operates a growing fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 737s, and A330s connecting 42 destinations across 22 countries. Its route map includes major hubs like London-Heathrow, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Dubai, and new additions such as Amsterdam.

Although smaller than Gulf giants Emirates or Qatar Airways, Oman Air is widely regarded as a high-quality boutique carrier. The airline offers three travel classes, including Economy, a standard Business Class, and an exclusive “Business Studio” cabin featuring private suites on select long-haul 787s. (The Business Studio was previously Oman Air’s First Class, now sold as an enhanced business product.) The seating is in a spacious 2-2-2 Apex Suite layout that gives every passenger direct aisle access. You can read our Oman Air B787 business class review here.

Travellers connecting through Muscat can also look forward to a smooth transit in a recently built, world-class terminal.

A Welcome Addition for Australian Travellers

For Aussie frequent flyers, Oman Air’s entry into oneworld is a promising development. It not only fills a gap in the alliance’s coverage between Asia and the Middle East, but also creates new reward and status opportunities on a carrier known for punchy deals and solid service.
