Qantas Opens Chairman's Lounge For Platinum One Members
Qantas is offering select Platinum One members one-time access to the Chairman’s Lounge, typically reserved for VIPs and corporate elites.
The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge was once a closely guarded secret among influential travellers. Nowadays, it’s more of an open secret, with the invitation-only status granted to high-ranking public servants, executives whose companies hold major corporate travel accounts, plus other celebrities and individuals ready to get on their knees for the Flying Kangaroo.
Of course, the Chairman’s Lounge is meant to be aspirational. An exclusive realm just out of reach, designed to make the rest of us, even Platinum status holders, feel like we are missing out. But Qantas is opening the door for a very select few, an internal Qantas Loyalty source confirmed with Flight Hacks.
Qantas has begun offering complimentary, one-time access to the Chairman’s Lounge for certain Platinum One frequent flyers. The initiative, described internally as a “surprise and delight”, targets members who meet unspecified “business criteria” in addition to holding Platinum One status.

A number of Flight Hacks readers have reported receiving an email invitation ahead of their upcoming travel, in many cases paired with a complimentary Business Class upgrade. The one-time invitation grants Chairman’s Lounge entry for the member and one guest when travelling on a Qantas or Jetstar flight departing Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, or Perth.
There are strings attached, with blackout dates tied to periods of high demand or known peak days for political and corporate travel.
Chairman’s Lounge surprise and delight blackout dates;
- Sydney: 6-9 June 2025
- Melbourne: 6-9 June 2025, restricted on Wednesday & Thursday from 3pm
- Canberra: 6-9 June 2025
- Brisbane: none
- Adelaide: 6-9 June 2025
- Perth: 2-5 and 23-26 June 2025, daily from 6pm

While this gesture doesn’t mean Qantas is about to fling open the doors of its most exclusive lounges permanently, it’s a rare acknowledgment that even its top-tier flyers might like a taste of the good life. For those lucky enough to receive the invite, enjoy the polished floors, deep chairs, and quiet murmur of dealmaking…before being escorted back to the real world.
