Starlux unveils A350 service to LA with premium seating options, featuring first-class at exclusive prices.Qantas has decided it’s well overdue for some good publicity this week, with the decision to schedule non-stop flights between Melbourne and Jakarta just after the Easter break.
The flying kangaroo plans to run three weekly return flights between Melbourne and the Indonesian capital from 16 April 2023. Although still subject to regulatory approval, widebody Airbus A330 jets have been selected for the journey.
Qantas Domestic and International CEO Andrew David said the airline was excited to be expanding its international network from Melbourne.
“We expect these flights to be popular with Victoria’s large Indonesian expat community wanting to visit family and friends back home as well as offering a new gateway for travellers looking to explore the region,” Mr David said.
“As one of Australia’s closest neighbours, these new flights will also help support the growing trade and investment links between our two countries,” he added.
The new route adds to Qantas’ existing daily operation between Sydney and Jakarta, as well as flights to the popular tourist region of Denpasar (Bali) from both Sydney and Melbourne. Indonesia’s flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, also services Sydney and Melbourne from Jakarta and Denpasar.
