Virgin Australia is offering Velocity Frequent Flyers a chance at earning double Velocity Points or double Velocity Status Credits. But there is a big downside – as this is a targeted offer, only a handful of Velocity members can take advantage of the promotion. At least that was the case at its launch this morning.
But it seems Velocity is playing musical chairs with their offers, and everyone’s hoping to land a seat at the bonus table! From all accounts, Velocity has since expanded the eligibility criteria, meaning more frequent flyers can enjoy their flight, their way. It’s likely this change was made in response to negative feedback, whereby some of the most loyal Velocity members weren’t able to take advantage of the promotion.
We’ve had a few readers reach out claiming that they are now able to ‘pick their bonus’ after being blocked earlier in the day. There are now three offers circulating, with most (but not all) members eligible for at least one of three.
Double Velocity Status Credits Or Double Points – July 2024 [Targeted]
Velocity means fast, and that’s especially the case with double Velocity Points or double Velocity Status Credits! It’s a deal designed to get members closer to that next rung in the status ladder, or within reach of that lie-flat bed at the pointy end.
Although it’s still an invitation-only party, most Velocity Frequent Flyers can expect one of the following offers;
- Offer 1: Double Status Credits
- Offer 2: Double Points
- Offer 3: The choice of double points or double status credits

Eligible members must activate their and book before 18th July 2024, with flights for travel between 1 August 2024 and 27 June 2025.
Offer Terms: Double Status Credits
If you’re offered or select to earn double Velocity Status Credits, here are the key terms to be aware of;
- Activate the offer and book an eligible flight by 18th July 2024
- Travel between 1st August 2024 and 27th June 2025
- Eligible flights are domestic, trans-Tasman or international short-haul flights operated by Virgin Australia
- You must be ticketed in a fare class that usually earns Velocity Status Credits
- If your booking contains one or more codeshare flights, you will not be eligible
- Bonus Status Credits are applied to the originally purchased fare class
- Each guest on a booking must activate and satisfy the eligibility criteria separately
- Allow up to 4 weeks for the bonus Velocity Status Credits to land in your account
Offer Terms: Double Points
If you’re offered or select to earn double Velocity Points, here are the key terms to be aware of;
- Activate the offer and book an eligible flight by 18th July 2024
- Travel between 1st August 2024 and 27th June 2025
- Eligible flights are domestic, trans-Tasman or international short-haul flights operated by Virgin Australia
- You must be ticketed in a fare class that usually earns Velocity Points
- If your booking contains one or more codeshare flights, you will not be eligible
- Bonus points are calculated based on the standard earn rate of 5 Velocity Points per $1 of eligible spend
- Silver, Gold and Platinum members will earn their tier bonus Velocity Points separately.
- Bonus points are applied to the originally purchased fare class
- Each guest on a booking must activate and satisfy the eligibility criteria separately
- Allow up to 4 weeks for the bonus Velocity Points to land in your account
