Get 1,000 Free Velocity Points With A Medibank Quote

Medibank is currently offering 1,000 Velocity Points for free when you get a health insurance quote. There is no need to join or pay anything to unlock the bonus Velocity Points.

The only catch is that you’ll need to agree to a call from a Medibank consultant about your quote. Having taken advantage of this deal myself, my phone call lasted all of 51 seconds once I explained I was only interested in the 1,000 Velocity Points.

However, if you your quote turns into a policy, the numbers get considerably bigger. New members who join eligible Hospital and Extras or Hospital only cover can earn up to 140,000 bonus Velocity Points. Medibank is also offering six weeks free and waived 2 and 6 month wait periods on extras.

Earn 1,000 Velocity Points For A Medibank Quote

Until 29 October 2026, Velocity members can get a health insurance quote on the Medibank website and earn a free 1,000 Velocity Points. As part of the deal, you must agree to be contacted by a Medibank consultant.

Once you've met those requirements, Medibank will credit the points within five business days. The bonus is limited to one allocation per Velocity member, so you can't scale this offer with multiple quotes. It’s also for new Medibank customers only, and you won’t be eligible if you’ve held Medibank or ahm cover in the last 12 months.

Of course, on their own 1,000 Velocity Points won't book you a Virgin Australia flight. But this deal is still a no-brainer considering its free and easy. In total it took me 2 minutes to fill out the form and receive a phone call.

• MB: Hello, I’m calling about your health insurance quote completed online. Is there anything I can help you with?
• FH: Thanks but I’m not interested in taking out health insurance, I only got the quote for the Velocity Points.

Earn Up To 140,000 Velocity Points When You Join

If you end up deciding to proceed with an eligible Hospital and Extras or Hospital only cover, you can also receive bonus Velocity Points based on the weekly premium of the policy you choose:

• $170+ per week: 140,000 Velocity Points
• $140 to $169 per week: 100,000 Velocity Points
• $110 to $139 per week: 70,000 Velocity Points
• $75 to $109 per week: 50,000 Velocity Points
• $55 to $74 per week: 30,000 Velocity Points
• Under $54 per week: 20,000 Velocity Points

The level of Velocity Points you could earn as above is determined by the quoted weekly premium, before the Australian Government Rebate is applied and excluding any Lifetime Health Cover loading, Young Adult Discount or any other discount or promotion. In practice, that means the premium used to set your bonus will usually be higher than what actually leaves your bank account.

To be eligible, you can't have held Medibank or ahm cover in the last 12 months, unless you're a dependant coming off a parent's policy. You'll need to pay by direct debit and hold the same level of cover or higher for 120 consecutive days. The points then land in your Velocity account in the fifth month.

Corporate, Ambulance only, Extras only, overseas visitor and student cover, and all ahm policies are excluded. The offer can't be combined with any other Medibank promotion.

Summing Up: My Take

The 1,000-point quote offer is about as low-effort as points earning gets. If you're a Velocity member with a few minutes and a tolerance for one sales call, there's little reason not to.

The join offer is a different decision. It's a solid bonus, and the waived extras waits and six weeks free add real value on top. That said, you should first compare cover and pricing against your current provider. Points are a nice bonus for switching, but they're rarely a good enough reason on their own.
