Living in Tasmania has its perks, but redemption seats on international carriers is not one of them. As well as higher taxes and point costs, it is often hard to line up a domestic connection with an international carrier.
In Business Class the most logical route is Singapore to Hobart via Melbourne or Sydney for 88,500 Velocity Points. Although an interesting gap in Virgin Australia’s redemption chart sees the asking price of SIN-DRW-MEL-HBA set as 73,500 points, whereas SIN-ADL-MEL-HBA is 76,500 points. While Singapore Airlines operates its B737 narrowbody aircraft into Darwin, the flight to Adelaide is onboard the far superior Airbus A350 with lie-flat seats. If you don’t mind extra flying, this could be a good way to save yourself 12K points.
What other airline partners can I use Velocity Points with?
Virgin Australia has continued to expand its international airline partner offering since November 2021, when Velocity partner redemptions returned. Below, you’ll find a list of Velocity Frequent Flyer’s current airline partners that you can redeem points to fly with.

Virgin Australia’s partnership with United will kick off in April 2022. The agreement is set to include Velocity tier benefits as well as Velocity Points and Status Credit earn when travelling on United services worldwide.
