A while ago, I wrote a post about why I’m using Zip Pay to pay for all my everyday transactions. At the time, Zip was offering 3% cashback on all purchases. If you missed out, the promotion is now back on, albeit with only 2% cashback. Which is still very good considering you can pay Zip Money with your frequent flyer credit card to earn both points AND cashback!

What is Zip Pay?
Zip Pay is a virtual credit card; it’s 100% free (sign up with our partner link, we appreciate your support!), has zero interest fees, and you can use it with Apple Pay or Google Pay (since it’s virtual).
What Do You Need To Apply?
- Own email address and mobile number
- To be at least 18 years old
- To be an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident
- Have a verified Facebook, PayPal, or LinkedIn account
- Debit card or credit card

Does It Only Work At Places That Support Zip?
Don’t confuse Zip Pay with Zip Money. Zip Pay is a virtual Visa issued credit card with a $1,000 line of credit allowing you to spend everywhere Visa is accepted. Zip Money is a “buy now pay later” scheme which only works at participating retailers.
How To Earn Points & Cashback?
Zip Money allows you to pay off your balance using a debit or credit card (Visa and MasterCard) to either automatically pay the balance in full on the due date, or you can also make early payments to clear off the balance. Considering you only get $1,000 as a line of credit, some people may find this too low, hence paying it off multiple times over a month is possible.
Earn 2% cashback with every Tap & Zip
Zip relaunching our Rewards Program with a 2% cashback towards your Reward Target when you pay with Tap & Zip in-store, excluding petrol and groceries.
The maximum reward earned per transaction is $30; however, you can do this multiple times, and there’s no limit!

How long does it take to get approved for Zip Money?
From personal experience and that of others, Zip Money is instantly approved if you meet the criteria mentioned above. Having a verified Facebook, LinkedIn, or PayPal account helps a lot. Unless you have a questionable credit history, your account should be up and running within minutes.
