What Is Gyoza Flights?

Gyoza Flights is a reward search tool designed to make finding Qantas and Velocity Frequent Flyer award seats faster, easier and more reliable. Instead of manually checking for reward seats on airline websites, which are often unreliable and difficult to use, Gyoza automates the process and shows all available reward seats on a single, easy-to-read interface.

Gyoza was built by Australian travellers, for Australian travellers. They understand the long multi-stop itineraries we need to get to places like Europe or America. Therefore, Gyoza offers a killer ability to uncover longer connecting reward seats, a feature that other tools aren’t as good at replicating.

Supported Frequent Flyer Programs

Gyoza Flights currently supports two loyalty programs - Qantas Frequent Flyer and Velocity Frequent Flyer.

Because both schemes are part of wider airline alliances and partnerships, Gyoza can show reward seats across many airlines. For Qantas, this includes carriers such as Emirates, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and more. On the Velocity side, partner options include Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, United Airlines and other participating carriers.

How To Use Gyoza Flights

Gyoza Flights offers four main functions, which we will explain how to use below.

• Live Award Searches: Run real-time, point-to-point searches with accurate availability pulled directly from the airline.
• Region to Region: Browse and filter cached Business and First Class award seats seen in the past 24 hours.
• Award Alerts: Set up tailored SMS and email alerts for new reward seats.
• Unsold Seats: Check GDS unsold fare buckets.

Live Award Searches

The ‘City to City’ tab allows you to search city pairs with live availability, meaning Gyoza will check with the airline what seats are currently available at the time you search. This is a great starting point, or where you’ll want to go if you know the exact airports you want to depart from and arrive at.

For example, we have searched Sydney (SYD) to Hong Kong (HKG) for 1st June 2025 below. Results are shown in a simple table layout, with the option to sort each of the columns.

Clicking on the date field opens up a handy month view that makes it easy to see which dates have available reward seats in Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First. You can also scroll through previous or coming months from the date of your search.

There is also a bar graph below, which shows the same data in a different format.

Clicking on each flight opens up a handy information view for each flight. You can also click on the program icon to head to the Qantas/Velocity site and book.

Region To Region Business & First Class

From the ‘Business & First Class’ tab, you can view cached award seats Gyoza has seen over the past 24 hours, for a date range selected. You can tailor results using specific airports or regions, like the Australia to Europe search below. You could also add a city to the mix, for example, searching for Perth to Europe.

Like the live search page, everything is shown on a clean table, which can be filtered to your preference. You can also exclude dynamic pricing like Qantas’ excessive Classic Plus, so you’re only seeing true reward seats.

There is also a handy ‘Add to trip’ button, which puts flight options into a basket. This makes for an easy place to group options or build a trip with multiple stops, like the Oneworld RTW Award.

Creating Award Alerts

Premium Gyoza Flights users can register tracking of up to 100 alerts on the monthly plan, or unlimited for the annual subscription. To create an alert from the search page, click the bell icon on the right side of the table.

You can then tailor the alert to include major surrounding airports, exclude particular airlines, select your dates, passengers, travel class, frequent flyer program, and limit the alert to direct flights only.

You can view and manage your alerts from the ‘Alerts’ tab under your profile.

Unsold Seats

The ‘Unsold Seats’ is a handy feature to show available fare classes of scheduled flights from global distribution systems (GDS). This feature is handy to check the likelihood of an upgrade, or for Qantas Platinums looking to request I & D class fares as a Classic Reward.

Simply enter the origin, destination, and date for Gyoza to spit out the unsold fares for each flight.

Final Thoughts: Is Gyoza Flights Useful?

Gyoza Flights takes a lot of the frustration out of searching for reward seats, and aims to avoid hours refreshing airline websites in the hopes that award space will magically appear. In particular, live searching is a huge deal for frequent flyers, and while no reward search tool can always be 100% accurate, Gyoza Flights is very close.

There are some features I’d love to see, like the addition of more programs or live searching for multiple airports, but Gyoza Flights manages to strike a solid balance between usability and depth. For points beginners and loyalty pros, Gyoza Flights is a tool worth having in your kit.
