For a long time Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Angeles have been the perfect departure points for cheap business class tickets to Europe (and other destinations).

It appears that Tokyo has just joined that list with a few outstanding airfares!

Deal 1: Etihad Business Class Tokyo Narita to Rome Return For $2449

You can now fly Etihad’s business studio onboard the B787 from Tokyo to Rome for only AU$2449; which is a bargain!

The availability is wide open until the End of May, and at the moment I can see seats on almost every day of the week. The easiest option is to some preliminary research on Google Flights. However; that’s not where you will find the lowest price.

How to get the best price with Etihad

The only way to achieve a price of $2249 is by accessing this page and when you’re there enter code “3760” or the first 4 digits if you have an American Express card (no need to pay with Amex). This will give you 10% off the price of your ticket.

A business class return flight will net you a stack of points in the Etihad Guest program; which you can later use to book Virgin Australia flights. Check out our guide on that here.

Deal 2: Qatar Airways Business Class Tokyo Haneda to Rome

If you’re looking to collect some One Word status credits, this fare is for you! Slightly more expensive compared to Etihad but it comes with the convenience of a Haneda departure (closer to the city) and the possibility of visiting the Japan Airlines first class lounge if you’re a One World Emerald.

The 12h flight to Doha also features the A350-1000 with Qsuites, and from Doha to Rome, you can get the B787 with reverse herringbone (or the older 777 with a 2-2-2 config).

How to get to Japan?

Positioning to Japan is pretty easy from most Australian cities. There are plenty of direct flights with either Qantas, Japan Airlines, ANA and soon Virgin Australia.

Any excuse for a stopover in Japan is a good one!
