Emirates student discount

If you're a student aged between 16 and 31, Emirates has a standing promo that knocks up to 10% off Economy fares and throws in an extra 10kg of luggage on most routes. I tested the Emirates student discount code to see if it actually saves you any money, and it certainly does! This promo is worth knowing about if you're planning anything from a Euro summer trip to a proper graduation blowout and suffering on a budget airline wasn't on your 2026 bingo card.

Here's how it works, and our breakdown of the fine print!

The deal: Emirates student discount

Enter promo code STUDENT at checkout on emirates.com or in the Emirates app for travel from 1 June 2026 onwards. You'll get:

  • Up to 10% off Economy Class fares
  • Up to 5% off Premium Economy and Business Class fares
  • Extra 10kg of checked baggage, or one extra piece (whichever your route uses)
  • Free onboard Wi-Fi chat for Skywards members
  • Flexible date changes on Flex and Flex Plus fares (Saver fares cop a USD $50 change fee)

Just keep in mind, the discount applies to the base fare only. Taxes, fees, and surcharges are excluded, which is where a chunk of the ticket price actually sits.

Do you actually save money?

To see what a 10% Emirates discount actually looks like, I tested a Sydney to Paris return in Economy. The standard fare came up at A$2,325.86.

After applying the Emirates student discount code, the price dropped to A$2,166.86. Total saving:

A$159, not bad and at least worth a few overpriced beers.

The extra 10kg perk is arguably the better half of the deal for students. Our Sydney to Paris test fare came with a total allowance of 40kg of checked luggage in Economy once the student bonus was applied, which is extremely generous by Economy standards.

Extra luggage pricing on Emirates

For context, Emirates charges A$349 to add just 5kg of extra baggage to that same return trip, so the included luggage allowance you're getting for free is substantial.

The bonus baggage doesn't apply on flights to or from the US or Canada. Those routes run on Emirates' piece-based allowance, which is tighter than you might expect on the cheaper fares.

  • Economy Saver / Economy Special: 1 bag at 23kg (50lbs)
  • Economy Flex / Flex Plus: 2 bags at 23kg each

Everything else (the fare discount, the flexibility, the Wi-Fi) still applies.

Who qualifies?

  • Aged 16 to 31 on your outbound flight date
  • Currently enrolled at a high school, uni, or accredited institution, or travelling for your graduation ceremony
  • Valid student ID, acceptance letter, or graduation invite ready at check-in
  • Emirates Skywards member (free to join)
  • One student per booking, ticket must be in the student's name

Turning 32 mid-trip is fine. The eligibility window runs up to the day before your 32nd birthday, based on your outbound flight date.

How to book

  1. Go to the student fare page on the Emirates website.
  2. Look for the "Promo code" field under the search form
  3. Enter STUDENT
  4. Run the search, eligible fares will show up tagged as student discounted
  5. Complete the booking in the student's name

If you're not seeing student-tagged fares on your date, try shifting by a day or two. Not every fare bucket participates, and availability is tighter on peak dates.

What to bring to the airport

Print or save a clear photo of one of the following, and have it ready at check-in:

  • Valid student ID card or
  • University or college acceptance letter or
  • Graduation ceremony invite

Digital versions on your phone generally work, but Emirates staff reserve the right to ask for physical copies. If your date of birth falls outside the eligibility window, you won't be allowed to book online.

Booking window

New bookings for the Emirates student discount code need to be completed on or before 31 March 2027, for travel from 1 June 2026. That's a solid twelve-month runway, and it's likely we will see a similar campaign again next year.

The bottom line

If you're flying Emirates anyway and you qualify for the student discount, use it. The combined value of the fare discount, the extra bag, and the Skywards Miles you earn on the booking makes it a no-brainer.

If you're shopping Emirates specifically because of the student code, run the numbers first. There are plenty of cheaper airlines out there, but if you're picky, this promo might just be your thing!
