Qatar Airways has launched Privilege Club Pro – a monthly/annual subscription that grants bonus Avios (and even Qpoints in the top tier) to Privilege Club members. Four plans are available:

  • Access: 2,500 Avios per month for USD 50 ($500/yr) ⇒ 30,000 Avios/yr (~1.67¢/Avios).
  • Select: 7,500 Avios per month for $130 ($1,300/yr) ⇒ 90,000 Avios/yr (~1.44¢/Avios).
  • Exclusive: 15,000 Avios per month for $240 ($2,400/yr) ⇒ 180,000 Avios/yr (~1.33¢/Avios).
  • Ultimate: 20,000 Avios + 5 Qpoints per month for $350 ($3,500/yr) ⇒ 240,000 Avios/yr (~1.46¢/Avios) (plus 60 Qpoints per year).

Each plan can be paid monthly or annually (annual pre-pay gets 2 months free). In short, Exclusive delivers the cheapest Avios price (~1.33¢ each) among Qatar’s plans; the other tiers range from ~1.44¢ (Select) up to ~1.67¢ (Access) if paid annually, or ~2.0¢ on a month-by-month basis. Only the Ultimate tier adds Qpoints (5/month, 60/yr), which can help toward status: e.g. 150 Qpoints upgrades Burgundy→Silver, 300 to Gold, 600 to Platinum.

Pro Tip:

When subscribing to Qatar Airways Privilege Club Pro, make sure to set your account to US because if you have it set to Aussie dollars, the price goes up!

Qpoints are the Qatar Airways equivalent of "status points or status credits", these are what you generally earn from flying.

Overall, the Privilege Club Pro subscription lets members "drip-feed" Avios each month, with the best value being 1.33¢ per Avios (Exclusive tier, annual payment required). The most expensive plan (Ultimate) costs about 1.46¢/Avios but includes 60 Qpoints annually.

The absolute lowest cost per point here is ~1.33¢, (that's all in USD) but this requires pre-paying and earning Avios slowly over the year. In practice, Privilege Club members could also earn Avios in other ways. In fact, Qatar already sells Avios occasionally: past promotions have offered ~30–80% bonus on bought points.

Comparison: British Airways Avios Subscription

British Airways Executive Club also sells Avios via four annual subscriptions (Voyager, Traveller, Explorer, Adventurer). The top Adventurer plan delivers 200,000 Avios for £1,989 (~US$2,679), which works out to about 1.34 ¢ per Avios at the mid-July 2025 rate of £1 = US$1.346. Qatar’s best-value Exclusive tier is 180,000 Avios for US$2,400 (≈ 1.33 ¢ each), so it remains fractionally cheaper on a pure cost-per-point basis. By contrast, Qatar’s Ultimate tier is US$3,500 for 240,000 Avios (≈ 1.46 ¢), making it more expensive than BA unless you need the 60 Qpoints that come with it. For comparison, BA’s entry-level Voyager plan is £259 (~US$349) for 20,000 Avios, roughly 1.74 ¢ each, so it’s far less compelling for anyone focused solely on price.

Buying Avios Instead of Subscribing

Rather than a subscription, one can simply buy Avios during sales and then transfer/use them. Notably, Finnair Plus (an Avios program) was running a 40% off sale (June 16–30, 2025), letting members buy Avios for about 1.46¢ each. Because Finnair uses Avios points, these purchased Avios can be transferred to Qatar or British Airways accounts. Historically, Finnair’s offers have been even stronger: for example, last year it ran up to 50% discounts and a 70% bonus (in April 2024) on bought Avios. This means Finnair Avios have occasionally cost around 1.0¢ or less each, which beats any Qatar or BA subscription.

Best Value Choice

Based on cents-per-point, Qatar’s Exclusive tier (15k Avios/mo at 1.33¢/Avios) is the best subscription deal. Looking at sales history, Finnair has historically offered the deepest Avios discounts (e.g. 50% discount), so buying from those programs usually beats both Qatar and BA subscriptions in raw cost per point, however, there's no way to know for sure if we'll ever see a discount of 50% any time soon. Qatar’s own Privilege Club sales typically align with ~1.3–1.5¢/Avios – essentially the same range.

Summing Up

Privilege Club Pro provides a steady way to collect Avios (plus a bit of Qpoints), and while the pricing is pretty good, its value per point is only on par with Qatar’s previous points sale promotions. For pure Avios accumulation, buying points in a high- bonus sale (Finnair, BA or Qatar) will usually deliver more Avios per dollar (historically). Personally, I'd like to see Qatar Airways offer a much better discount on these subscription, especially considering the points are dripped into your account each month. As a basic rule, don't buy points unless you have an immediate use in mind because their value doesn't increase over time!
